i also want to try the trial. i downloaded it and filled out all the info and i only got 2 emails no 3rd with the registration code
This may work for the 'bought' version, but we're asking about the FREE TRIAL, which doesn't come with a key.
I'm having the very same problem, and relaunching the launcher doesn't help.
It keeps saying:
You could not log in because the service account in question is not registered.
If you would like to log in to the service, pplease log in to the Square Enix Account Management System and register the service account.
... which then asks to input a CD key.
Apart from the facts that
My "users" folder is not on C:\
and
my "%users%/[Username]" folder did not contain "My Documents"
this seems to have done the trick.
At least I could log in and it is downloading the client now. [Edit] Apparently there was so little left to download that it finished while I was typing this. [/edit]
For those having trouble finding the above mentioned folders, just go to "my documents" from you 'Computer' window directly. It should be in that little tree diagram on the lefthand side.
**Installed it.
**Asked to make a new account - I did. pressed NEXT
**Asked me to confirm email address
Received an email - REGISTRATION - with confirmation code - I did confirm and entered the code. Pressed NEXT.
**Received a new mail REGISTRATION COMPLETED - with the following text:
"Thank you for registering your Square Enix account.
This e-mail has been automatically sent by the Square Enix Account Management System to inform you that your Square Enix account registration has successfully completed."
** Asks me for the following
"Please enter your registration code for FINAL FANTASY XIV.
* The registration code is a string of 20 alphanumeric characters enclosed in your package.
* You cannot register an expansion pack on this screen. "
This is the only fix I could find. Nothing else worked. Which is completely and utterly retarded. I dont understand why the game would make you jump through all these hoops just to play a trial version of the game. You would think they would want to make it as easy as possible to get new people to play the game and potentially purchase it in the future.
That being said. This will have the be the best game to have ever gamed to get me to pay a monthly subscription. Is this game better than Netflix, better than Amazon video. You know with amazon prime/video I also get two day free shipping on all my purchases. Is FF14 better than that? We'll see.
