FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Summoner lv 60 quest
The quest A Book with Bite, I do not understand how you could try and solo it without having aid from another, or level up to the point you can kill it faster then it kills you. Did the devs really think it was a good idea to change how summoner pets work and not really see how this quest would be affected by it?

What's your gear?
currenlty, my GS is 166, I'm pretty sure that is near irrelevent, since the pets CAN NOT tank it, even with the chocobo, it dies in 2 hits with nothing you can do about it, even if you try to heal it.

The highest iLvl you can have here should be arround 270... That would make a difference, right?

Well, the best way to do it: "kite, hide, and spam"

Run away and let your dots do their Job, spam others spells, when ever possible^^
It's not fun, but it works ^^'

It is my friend.

Better gear means better stats, so it's always relevant.

Honest question, isn't there any way to get higher level gears out of market? Unless dungeons and trials, etc are the only way. If worst comes to worst, this is always an option to be stronger.

At level 60, best you can get from the market board is going to be the Bloodhempen set, i255.

I might have misworded what I meant. I mean, aside of market, where do you get good gear at lv60? Where do you farm for a good set for your class? I imagine making it isn't really an option.

Augmented Shire gear, i270 can be bought from Idyllshire for Allagan Tomestones of Poetics.

IL is ABSOLUTELY not irrelevant. At 166 you're at the bare minimum of the level 60 gear progression line. Level 60 gear goes all the way up to 280, and the difference is night and day. Farm some tomestones or guy buy some pieces off the market board if you have plenty of gil, you'll do the content no problem.
To add to this, I tried doing the level 60 PLD quest with some 190 gear I had lying around, sure it was possible, however with the 270 gear the boss was dead before his dialouge was over.

W-why would you allow yourself to have such a low item level at 60?

ilvl is not irrelevant in this game. For most content, the number itself is irrelevant (though there are minimum requirements for certain dungeons, especially during current content). But higher ilvl on gear means higher available stats. A Lv60 ilvl 212 item is going to have FAR less stats than a Lv60 ilvl 280 item. In your case, gear is going to matter significantly more than what level you are.

Not everyone knows how to easily obtain better gear. Especially newer players. It's not laid out with crayon drawings for toddlers like it is in other MMOs.

Lol that's about 100 levels too low. You should be smashing through the enemies before they get that far. Also as a summoner you shouldn't be healing at all. Tanking has nothing to do with that fight. It's all about how quickly you can deal damage .

Literally almost anything attached to a quest gives you possible gear even MSQ.

Hell even then, there are vendors in Foundation that give at least semi decent base 60 gear before acquiring your gear from a class quest or even tomestone gear.

There is no excuse for being undergeared when various options are right in front of the face. MSQ optional items, market board, npc vendors, tomestone gear, etc.

Edit: originally typed "each city" for level 60 but 50-60 basic gear can only be bought once you reach Foundation in Heavensward via The Jeweled Crozier NPC vendors

Fam, the Lv5? MSQ tells you to get i5 gear in every slot and the NPC vendor is right there where you buy it. Would it be hard to ask someone or look up that you can buy i255 NQ gear in Foundation?
How long are players new? Forever?

Some people really do think someone can be new, even at 80.

"He's new, he's a fresh 80!"

MSQ doesn't give great gear. By 60, you're not going to have 200+ ilvl gear if you're relying on MSQ.

As a new player, they aren't going to know of the gear vendors in Ishgard.

You're being an elitist. No one likes that.

And some people think that everyone knows as much about the game as they do despite being new. Those people are generally toxic to the community and add nothing positive.
