FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Can i download the new f2p version of the game through steam?
^^

I also already have an account from when i bought a bundle with a previous expansion, it has a dragoon character on there, can i sign onto that account though the steam version? Or do i have to buy the base game again and then make a new account/create an account that's linked to my steam account?

There is no F2P in this game.

That is a Free Trial/Demo. There are heavy restrictions.

If you have already purchased the game and expansions, you are not entitled to the Free Trial/Demo anymore.

If you want to play the Free Trial/Demo, you will need to make a new account. You cannot use an active account for the trial.

NOTE: The INSTANT you purchase the game or any expansions, you are locked out of the trial on that account forever.

The game is NOT F2P. It is a paid monthly subscription

Im aware there is a subscription method of playing, i used to use it. But is there not a recent model of the game that has the first expansion as well as letting you reach level 60 included in a total free to play experience?

No.

That is the extended Free Trial/Demo.
(Originally the Free Trial/Demo was 2 weeks, then it was upgraded to max level 35, now it has been upgraded to max level 60.)

Heavy restrictions apply.

Yes, the Free Trial has been extended to level 60.

But since you already purchased the game and what not, you cannot use your current account with a new free trial.

(Sorry for the somewhat blunt tones in my response. SO many people are spreading misinformation that the game has gone F2P, and it has not, nor will it ever lol)

I purchased the game through the launcher and on their website, my steam account is completely void of anything related to ff14, could i not just get the trial linked to my steam?

Yes you can do a new free trial via Steam.

But you will have to make a BRAND NEW account. You will not be able to use your existing account.
in a sense. Free to play definition is *relating to or denoting an arrangement in which basic access to a game is granted without charge while more advanced features must be paid for* while trial is a *test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something* i'd say it's mix between f2p and trial. wont be opening the same discussion with 126 messages that is locked

Do not confuse people

F2P states "basic access" and you do not even have basic access. You cannot use full chat system, party system (unless you are invited)

Joining an FC, having a GIL cap, making player trades, using the market board, etc....

All these are not advanced features. These are basic. Advanced features would be the MogShop, Cosmetics, Chat formatting (nickname, colors...), etc.

As well as there is a level cap, you cannot pass.

F2P means you can continue the entire game, up to current patches, with "basic access" which you cannot.

f2p or trial, it's certainly more free to play than most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mmorpg out there, gotta go. have a nice evening
Ultima modifica da Carbonated Super Sample; 17 ago 2020, ore 16:36
Only if you want a low gil cap, no way to start your own parties, no access to retainers and thus additional storage, no access to a lot of the chat features, no friends list, no FC, no market board...

You know, basic features of the game. They allow up to level 60 and through HW because people can get that far in about a month of casual play nowadays.

If you only owned the base game, the first expansion is given to you for free now. But you still have to pay a subscription to play.
