There is no F2P in this game.
That is a Free Trial/Demo. There are heavy restrictions.
If you have already purchased the game and expansions, you are not entitled to the Free Trial/Demo anymore.
If you want to play the Free Trial/Demo, you will need to make a new account. You cannot use an active account for the trial.
NOTE: The INSTANT you purchase the game or any expansions, you are locked out of the trial on that account forever.
The game is NOT F2P. It is a paid monthly subscription
No.
That is the extended Free Trial/Demo.
(Originally the Free Trial/Demo was 2 weeks, then it was upgraded to max level 35, now it has been upgraded to max level 60.)
Heavy restrictions apply.

Here we go again...................................................................................
Yes, the Free Trial has been extended to level 60.
But since you already purchased the game and what not, you cannot use your current account with a new free trial.
(Sorry for the somewhat blunt tones in my response. SO many people are spreading misinformation that the game has gone F2P, and it has not, nor will it ever lol)
Yes you can do a new free trial via Steam.
But you will have to make a BRAND NEW account. You will not be able to use your existing account.
Do not confuse people
F2P states "basic access" and you do not even have basic access. You cannot use full chat system, party system (unless you are invited)
Joining an FC, having a GIL cap, making player trades, using the market board, etc....
All these are not advanced features. These are basic. Advanced features would be the MogShop, Cosmetics, Chat formatting (nickname, colors...), etc.
As well as there is a level cap, you cannot pass.
F2P means you can continue the entire game, up to current patches, with "basic access" which you cannot.
You know, basic features of the game. They allow up to level 60 and through HW because people can get that far in about a month of casual play nowadays.
If you only owned the base game, the first expansion is given to you for free now. But you still have to pay a subscription to play.
