Game wont launch after hitting play

After i sign in through the launcher and hit play the game goes to a windowed black screen then closes

try it open it in administrator mode, sometime this happend, in administrator mode is more safe, and the other be sure you are using Direct x 9.

if don't work with this way, try it close it and open again

hey some times steam can be a problem But if you google FFXIV Client, you can get the REAL client from Sqaure E and DL right from them not use steam ( worked for me )

All i did was restart my computer and it worked last night

5 almost 6 hours of trouble shooting and advice still the same thing , i give up at this point thanks for the help though

i have a paragraph of trouble shooting steps ive taken... nothing is working a simple restart was in there multiple times

So i fixed the problem, i was running google chrome, BUT my internet explorer wasnt set up and i had to change setting in that to actually got my computer to actually connect to ffxi , so even if you use a different service like google chrome you still need to go into internet explorer internet settings and turn down cookies and security settings..... im so happy when it worked i pee'd a little

yea thats what i said , it was litterally the last place i looked , but it was totally my internet explorer settings . now i know :)

The launcher runs on your default browser, so if its settings are blocking it, then the launcher won't work properly, and as such won't launch the game. Thats why switching default to chrome or fixing internet explorer settings works :).

I can't get FFXIV to run. I restarted my computer and all the updates are good. I press play and it loaded I login then nothing. What do I do
