Duty Roulette Horror Stories
We all have one, if not several. Here's the spot to share it. No judging, there's two sides to every story. Just tell it as you experienced it.

So I ran Aurum Vale a while back because it's worth all the experience. It seems fine, but the one DPS kept messing up, stnading in the wrong spot or accidentally pulling mobs. We even wiped a couple of times to the first boss becuase he couldn't get it together. And then we found out why: Because someone apparently stole his pain pills, he went out and replaced them with heroin. He kept telling us he'd be fine, that he'd get his head in the game. He did not. He caused a couple more wipes before the second boss (Including pulling a mob I wasn't ready for because there was a chest on the other side) before we just kicked him...and told him to get to rehab for good measure.

He could have been lying about it, but honestly if you're going to cover up your own terrible play with "I'm on hard drugs" then I'm going to go ahead and buy that. Though as annoying as it was at the time, I sort of wear it as a badge of honor now, and if people start to criticize themselves for minor screw ups, I'll relate this story to them as a way of saying "It's cool, I've worked with worse."

me and one of my friend/FC mate where running Wander palace HM for EX roulette every thing was going fine in until we wiped on the 1st boss and we asked for if the white mage was new and she went insane she accused my friend of being a troll and tried to kick her and tried to do so several times after few mins she started ask to kick her in which we did but she qued back in toke off all her armor and pulled the boss causing another weapon the another dps got sick of this and left then she brought in a friend of hers and kicked my friend out of the group and then I left the dungeon this was one of the few times I left the dungeon out of pure anger

The story that inspired this thread.

Sad thing is, that's not an unusual sight for me. Like that time I tried to educate the scholar that they don't need to heal scratch damage; let Eos worry about that, flip into Cleric Stance and spam DOTs. And I kept trying to do this every so often, yet they kept ignoring me, culminating in me getting kicked.

Short version: Sometimes people are stupid and would rather kick someone trying to help them rather than learn. All we can do is hope we don't get teamed up with them again, and then just relax knowing that they can continue on being ♥♥♥♥.

Dungeon Horror Stories are pretty common. I just experienced one yesterday. The party finder grouped me with this GLA who refused to tank. He just kept wailing on one enemy, losing aggro in the process. I keep telling him to switch targets because the mob was going after me and the healer. He wouldn't listen. Our 1st healer left in frustration.

He also refused to up his enmity. Something our 2nd healer noticed right away. At this point I was like, ♥♥♥♥ it I'm tanking. All the while I was throwing out sarcastic comments. Something the healer and the other DPS greatly appreciated (I got 2 commendations). We let him do his own thing on the other side of the dungeon. Suffice to say he kept dying.

When the run ended, I checked his character profile in Lodestone. I made note of his name because the next time I see myself grouped with him, I'm out. I was relieved to find we are not on the same server. Happy ending.
Alexander normal (A4) as WHM. I out dpsed two of the dps, I was only on like 450 dps lol.
Also as I main BRD anytime I do anything and I'm top dps by over 100 at level 50 content, or over 500 at level 60 content.

Now for a serious horror story: Neverreap, with a MCH, he is below 200 dps on trash pulls and below 180 on first boss, he has an i200 weapon and mostly i190 gear. He has Gauss barrel on, but I see so casting bars from his name, when I ask why he claims that GCDs are completely pointless, and when I ask him to use them he refuses, the SCH was over 500 dps ahead of him. That was a *fun* run.
My very first run through Haukke Manor. I needed it for story quest.

Get in there, and our tank, a DRK, was a ♥♥♥♥. We barely cleared the first room before he started whining at our BLM for SLEEPING mobs. Kept whining that he MAINS a BLM and that crappy BLMs try to sleep everything ever and it's bad and wrong!!!!

...But its Haukke. We go a bit further, clear the next enemies, he complains again about Sleeping mobs even though the BLM points out that it's incredibly useful in Haukke, and he just rage quits.

in most cases it is kinda pointless to sleep mobs if you have a dark knight tank couse of how they hold aggro mainly with an aoe attack:)

With Paladins its one thing, since their main enmity grab doesn't cause damage and wouldn't remove Sleep, and they usually rely on their three-hit-combo anyway. But with Dark Knights and Warriors its harder.

That said, he should have just let the Black Mage use sleep and not start a fuss, if the mage wants to waste MP (MP that, as a Black Mage, he's just going to get back anyway) then that's his business.

Careful with that one, you can get banned for using a parser to check people's DPS output, and giving them an earful for not doing enough.

The tank was getting overwhelmed. He wasn't a very good DRK. Sleeping the mobs while he ran recklessly around actually kept him from dying.

Eh I won't get banned for saying it on the steam forums, as long as I don't say it in game I think I'll be fine :) . All I said in game is why aren't you using GCDs to the MCH and he said they were useless.

Did he even have Grit on? He sounds like the kind of Dark Knight who wouldn't turn Grit on.

But sleep is useless, the time the BLM spamming sleep was time they could have spent dpsing.

Besides, DRK aoe damages so it just wakes mobs up. So, pointless.

Remember, he's talking about Haukke Manor, not Alexander Savage. And I did say "no judging" in the first post.

Read my response later. The tank wasn't a very good DRK and kept getting overwhelmed even with them DPSing, so the sleeping was catching mobs not in AOE areas because the dude was apparently not sure how to tank with DRK.

No idea. I was too busy trying to kill stuff so he didn't die, either, to notice what if any buffs he put on himself.

Okay, so Alexander 1, right? Not even Savage, just normal flavor. We're doing okay, but not quite fast enough. The bosses start their countdown while one is at 5% and the other is at 3%. Fortunately, we have LB3 ready and I'm playing Summoner. It might not kill the bosses but at least it'd give us a shot, right? So I start casting...and it suddenly stops. And we all get a defensive buff from the Dark Knight, which wears off right before the bosses self-destruct.

Naturally we grill the Dark Knight on this. His excuse was that he wanted to see what Dark Knight's LB3 looked like. We lost the raid because at the last second, he wanted to see some pretty lights. We kicked him, of course. But then the group he came in with (A healer and a couple DPSs, if I remember right) leave right after, so we have to abandon and start over. Fortunately the next run went smoothly.
