Don't forget to do your blue quests, they unlock features. You should be able to do the Crystal tower raids storyline now
I always recommend to get CT out of the way before doing the last few ARR patches.
Then *BAM*, gotta do the crystal thing chain of quests...
Me and my buddy too. We finished the launch content and thought Mog King was the first expansion boss. Boy were we wrong... have spent the last two days continuing MSQ and I have no idea if the end is in sight.
Having to do the post launch content with terrible voice lines (though they are slightly better than launch MSQ) has got me just skipping all the dialogue. The second time they forced me to /dance for stupid NPC's before progressing the MSQ almost got me to quit playing as-is. So much for Lightbringer and protector of the world.... go dance and fetch me some cooked pork chops.
Really the only dungeon not tied to main story is Aurum Vale. The rest you have a real reason to be there. The way the game progresses is: ARR > post-ARR questline bridge > Heavensward > bridge > stormblood > bridge etc...
There is content that ties up some loose ends and introduces some cliff hanging material after each. Following the main story (quest banner that's parked on the corner of your screen) you start to unlock content.
Blue ! icons are always content unlocks. Classes, abilities (DO THESE), dungeons, etc.
