Sub through steam or only Mog?

Been considering the game, but seen a lot of complaints about account creation/management/etc around "Mog" or something. There a way to link steam account to ffxiv so i can circumvent having to use "Mog?" Thanks!

AFAIK, Mog is the monetization HUB for all SE games, including FF14, so this cannot be avoided.

You will be able to sub via steam through mogstation, and minimize your mogstation usage, so unless you would go to the cash shop or to pause/cancel the sub - you won't need to go there

sure ill let you know, nothing new yet. at least there was no problem with refunding DLC (on steam)

There's no real benefit in playing this game with steam. It's much less potential issues when you don't need to care about any account linking and all is in 1 place. You start this as non-steam game and i can still stream to my Steam friends if i want.

agreed, but its way too late for me. i have 4800 hours already, not gonna start all over from scratch now. which is bullsh1t in itself, that once linked, theres no option to unlink the account from steam

so i made it just now. after 17h since first error i tried to buy a sub again and got same error. ive read somewhere it automatically resets 24h timer, so i waited another 24h from then and now it worked

no response from support yet. i guess they dont work on weekends. or dont care

if it were up to me I would delete the link to Steam but since my account is linked and I bought it through Steam I'm SoL. Steam linked with this game is garbage. Avoid if you can!

Buy through steam: you have to sub via steam. This still connects back to mog.
This is a point of no return--you must purchase all expansions via steam if you do this.

Buy through anywhere else: mog station itself.
