you need to prepare mostly with that tiers best in slot items. those items are gained mainly in savage.
savage is a stepping stone to ultimate.
in terms of actually getting into parties fru>literally everything else right now, if you wanna start on ultimates in the next couple of months it'd be best to go for that since its brand new
But in terms of difficulty is for easiest to hardest is probably like:
*UWU (i did this one)
*UCoB
TEA (i did this one)
^FRU
^DSR
^TOP
*UWU & UCoB are considered easiest because the stat squish in Endwalker basically removed the DPS checks from those fights, it's purely Mechanical execution now
^For FRU, DSR, & TOP you will need to go & get a specific gear set per job
Check the balance for more in depth Gearing guides for each Ultimate.
after saying all that i can't recommend trying an Ultimate just because you bored ; you will be running the same fight on repeat for a gross amount of time & you can expect it to be double gross in PUGs.
if anything it will make all your feeling about the game worse
UWU is the easiest but clearing it in PF is a nightmare because UWU PF is full of people who asked which ultimate was easiest on the internet and jumped into it with no raiding experience. People say UWU is easy. What they actually mean is "UWU is easy [for an ultimate]".
The intended endgame progression is extreme to savage to ultimate. Don't try to run before you can walk. I'd strongly recommend trying to clear a current savage tier before attempting ultimate.
IK ultimate teams are not really friends since it requires pure concentration but i was more so asking for future reference, even so none of the ultimate weapons interest me so far unless i can get cool profile options from it.
To be honest there's no real bragging rights with Ultimates since you can't really prove the players themselves did/earned it. Pilots, Carries, & Mercenary runs are incredibly lucrative for ultimate raids so nobody puts that much weight into having an Ultimate weapon.
& there are exclusive adventure plates(it's like an in game business card) & portraits (like a profile pic for each job) for each ultimate raid.
& lastly; as for the not really being/making friends is very dependent on what type of static you are trying to join or make; a more casual one will be more ok with shooting ♥♥♥♥ where as a hardcore one is more so "we are here to do a job."
The reasons to do an Ultimate are:
-I am interested in the challenges and/or spectacle of the fight
-I like & want a Weapon/Profile from the fight
I just never really liked the look of U-weapons, just have too much noise for me
This is the only thing you need to understand. The raids itself are not hard, it’s just a tedious memorization of a pattern (x8) where in reality, your time would really be better spent elsewhere.
Then after you’ve gone through all this tedium you pop into LL and see 3 dozen pink hair maid costume cat girls with anime names, all sporting bought Legend titles and weapons and that’s when you ask yourself: “why?”.
If you want to get any sense of accomplishment out of FF14, as far as that’s even possible, then I’d rather look into soloing DDs tbf.
Easiest: Either UWU or TEA. UWU is very simple with only a couple of difficult mechanics, the thing that makes prog take a bit longer though is these difficult mechanics are at the end of the fight. Titan Gaols is about 6min in and is your first roadblock but Ultimate Suppression 11-12min in is going to be your big wall. TEA is the exact opposite. The difficult mechanics are all in the first two phases. Once you're in Alexander Prime the fight is pretty free if you study.
Next up would be ucob in the middle. Its the most recoverable and you can have the most deaths, but that doesnt mean its easiest. You still need to do the mechanics correctly or its usually a wipe in the bahamut phase. Each trio will take time to prog with the hardest two trios being fairly late into the fight 11ish min I believe to get to tenstrike? Heavensfall and Tenstrike are the two big walls and they're late. Definitely a harder fight than TEA or UWU.
Hardest are going to be DSR and TOP depending on what you yourself are good or struggle with. TOP is a very static fight but requires a TON of memorization. TOP is the epitome of stand here and let thing resolve, but there is a ton of flexing based on prio systems you need to memorize and learn. Once you learn them all though its an incredibly static fight and you can turn your mind off while you reclear. Everything is "I have this debuff and Im this in line I stand on this pixel". DSR is the opposite, less memorization of specific spots and more execution if that makes sense. Lots of planning your movement based on what you have to solve your mechanics. Im better at static memorization so Im better at TOP and DSR was more difficult for me. These are unquestionably the hardest two fights in the game though so be prepared for long prog on these two.
Send me a message and I can invite you to a raiding discord that does all kind of high end content, we have a UWU group going.
Name is Chocobuddies Raids if you prefer to find it through FFXIV Community Finder.
