If you bought it on steam it doesnt really matter.
You cant use your steam FF14 account elsewhere anyway.

Not enough context.

Where did you buy it from, what is it, Starter/Complete or Dawntrail?

Are you playing via the Steam library or the Windows PC client?

Okay, but you asked for help.

Square Enix can assist you by changing the region of used CD keys, so they aren't wasted, and from what I know, they can remove them from a wrong region account and activate a new key on a correct region account.

So in case you want to sort it out so you can play, there are options.
Basic rule is, for Steam, the game is going to have to match the Steam account region.
Thus, the SE and Steam accounts need to be set to the same region.

This sort of thing, while annoying, is because this game features through Steam, regional pricing for its subscription, which many people used to take advantage of and abuse.

I have a similar issue but the thing is, is that steam didn't even let me know if I was buying an EU version or US. I wanted the US version but I got the EU. I contacted SE support but I feel as if its some computer generated bs they are giving me.💀💀I went on reddit to see if anyone would trade codes cause I doubt SE is gonna help me with this issue. Doesn't help that steam isn't even letting u contact their support team directly.

It warns you on the Store page in a large orange box for which region you are buying the game for and what region Square Enix account you require, just saying. Here for me it says this:

Originally posted by Store Page:
Notice: Includes 30-day free subscription period for all newly created service accounts*. User registration and service subscription are required to play the game.
*The 30-day free play period included with purchase can only be applied once to each platform on a single service account. Moreover, this 30-day free play period is not applicable to platforms on which a license has already been registered.
The PAL version of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition will only work on European Square Enix accounts.

It could be written better, but there is a warning.

The truth is that the theme of this is horrible you don't even start the game and you already have the most difficult mission of the whole game xD. But support can change the code although for me it is better to have a new account to omit these problems in the future with DLC that they release

I'm not a big fan of having 2 accounts but for these types of games it has to be like that

I did contact support but all they told me is to contact steam support since I used a "third party" to buy it. And when I want to contact steam support they are telling me to contact SE. What kinda circlejerk is this :")
