*schizoid rant*

Sanest FF14 fan.
Amaterasu lähetti viestin:
I just dislike idealism and idealists. I used to be one, then the world shoved its boot down my throat.
You seem to be playing the wrong game, then. FF14 is firmly in the idealistic aisle.

Projection. FF14 has never been idealistic. In fact, the last 3 expansions were all about might-makes-right mentality, and how idealism doesn't work.

That is a wild reading.

If that's what you got out of it then you didn't pay attention.

Honestly they're right in a sense, I think they're using kinda heavy philosophical definitions where I was using casual meanings of the word (IE idealistic as in "having positive things to say about humanity and the world," not idealistic as in "moral purity is the most important thing"), and I think they're being a bit loose with "might-makes-right mentality" (like, of COURSE Final Fantasy 14 is making the point that strength is necessary to protect what you want to protect, but I don't think that's equivalent to "might-makes-right" mentality).

Like, FFXIV presents the world as not being perfect, but it's very much a Glass-Half-Full presentation of its messages, not what anyone could reasonably describe as cynical, and that's why I have a problem believing that Amaterasu is playing the same game you and I are.
There is nothing hot about her at all.
Have you ever even seen a midlander, au ra or a mi qo?

Get some taste.

I'm sorry you haven't developed patrician tier taste, yet, but what's sadder is that you think you have.

The past 3 expansions very clearly showed how the "might makes right" ideology was wrong and backfired when the oppressed group band together to oppose it.

But also one of the main themes of the story is that there is no black and white good and evil. Nobody is a saint and nobody is a sinner. It's just motives and actions. The ying and the yang, balance.

Look at me! Look very closely at whom you are talking to! And then ask yourself if you really and honestly think that nothing is wrong about your taste!

Says the one with almost 9k hours in the game and advertising hentai on their profile. It's ok, one day you'll have a job and can buy more games.

So the might makes right ideology failed when the oppressed group became mighty? You're proving my point.

Even if the weak banding together to collectively become stronger is one-to-one "the oppressed group became mighty," there's a wide gulf between "martial might is sometimes necessary to actually defend what's important to you" and "might makes right."
