I Hate Dawntrail
This has been one the most frustrating playing experiences I've ever had with this game. I love Pictomancer and even though the story has no emotional weight, it's fun... but everything else has been a real let down.

Viper feels like it maxed out at lvl 50 and never get's anything that exciting. When you're in lvl 60 or lower dungeons it feels like your running that srasha deep dungeon over and over again from the beginning of the game cause they only have a couple of attacks. It's just boring.

All the new dungeons have insane mechanics that you can't learn from playing, only from failure, and it makes running the new dungeons incredibly frustrating. Some of the new bosses either have no start up times on attacks that instantly kill you or they have so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going on on screen that you can't even see your party anymore(Antivirus X). When I finish a dungeon my first thought is "I never want to run that again" which ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Cause running dungeons used to be so much fun.

And if they meant to make the game more difficult they gotta figure out a solution for the latency/lag, You just don't have enough time to react anymore and it makes the game feel bad to play. And running around with objective markers and aetherite orbs just not appearing when they're supposed to is another level of frustration that makes me want to quit the game altogether.

Ya, I'm on the east coast and I get around 70-80 ping. It's not horrible, but I will say the ISP for whatever facility they use out there is not the best. The hops my connection takes is all over the place. It's why I started using battleping a few years ago, but sadly they shutdown so I started using pingzapper recently which is pretty decent.
Yeah, I was just saying getting 400ms is next to impossible. I get just below 300ms when connecting to OCE servers and I can still clear content no problem. As long as you understand the concept of FFXIV snapshots ping doesn't really matter... Unless you care about parsing on certain jobs.

Actually, Dawntrail does a much better job both modernizing and giving bosses better telegraphed attacks than previous, recent expansions. There's countless bosses in SHB and EW that give a telegraph that's either so subtle or doesn't remotely allude to what the type of attack is that's coming.

FF14 has historically been a joke of an MMO in terms of challenge until savage content, at which point it was learning poorly telegraphed abilities after dying to them (the same thing you're complaining about).

Running dungeons before Dawntrail AREN'T fun- those bosses and mob pulls are slow and boring. There's two main groups in FF14- people who want no challenge and VR chat, and people who want an actual MMORPG with mechanics that are both fun and engaging. You are the former.

I prefer the learn from failure approach versus the alternative, in a lot of cases, for a lot of reasons. A lot of developers struggle to make content you can feasibly do on a first try without making that content 'accessible' to the point it's braindead and un-interesting for a lot of people. At least presenting some kind of learning curve to the experience makes it feel worth doing.

Skill issue, if you go into a lv. 100 dungeon or a lv. 91-99 dungeon and have problems with the mechanics, have you paid attention to the game mechanics at all? It's so mind blowing how people complain about the mechanics of the new dungeons bosses who are actually fun. Because if you really played the game until lv. 90 or 100, how just how can't you get the mechanics? Ho can you not understand to analyze them and figure them out? How can you not learn them and play them to a point of doing them without getting hit? You guys got babysitted for so long because you refuse to do the absolute bare minimum, read your skills and learn mechanics. All the new dungeons bosses, the lv. 100 ones aren't that hard, they are not difficult and if you see them es difficult, get better.

I would be lying if I did not say, this expansion killed the love I feel for this game.

I literally log in only to do my roulettes and log off...

I have not finished Dawntrail either...

Its frustrating, the sad part is, you can actually feel the impact of this bad expansion, I've had to deal with tanks who dunno what a mitigation is, & had to have my dps play tank while I overhealed to keep him alive.

Offered to give advice to the noob tank and was met with stonewalling, the sad part about it is, nost players would just kick the tank, but I decided not to be that player and teach them.

Met today with a player who refused to roll too, like what the heck is going on man? 1 year ago stuff like this was rare, or happened in rare ocassions, but I am talking about day after day thing.

Me and the other players agreed to simply black list the non roller, due to the toxic behavior, but Jesus...

I've also had to deal with tanks who just dunno when to pull or how to pull more because I as healer can handle 3 to 4 stacks of enemies no sweat...

Its frustrating...

I literally will just go dps from now on and just quit healing and tanking, cause theres just no incentive...

I mean, Dawntrail is truly ass, some of the worst content they've ever created.

However, the game has like five mechanics in total, if you're still dying to them at level one hundred... I'm sorry, but there is no hope for you.

Literally the best battle content since SB. Go play WoW or something.

What's wrong with learning through failure? if anything, DT has probably the most engaging normal content in a long while since SB.
You have to pay actual attention to the fight and actually play the game instead of running like a headless chicken all the time. Yes, the DT normal content is much more demanding than EW normal content but its still to the point that its very accessible. Since when having some challenge became a bad thing?
