As for starting stuff, most things are for RP reasons and personal taste(stat differences don't matter too much at all when you get late game). As for starting class, either Gladiator or Marauder will work wonderfully, and I recommend getting both up so as to have access to cross class skills from both.
Cheers ( sorry i know it s a bit off topic, but if i create a new thread that would be the 3rd today an di dont want to plague the forum with my posts,
Cheers
That's assuming you're smart enough to actually pull it off. I've seen far too many people who aren't. Including one Dark Knight who thought that, despite being the absolute bare minimum for Neverreap (He was still wearing i136 gear, as well as the placeholder i150 stuff they sell in Azys Lla) that he could still do big pulls, and shifted the blame to me when he invariably died for biting off more than he could chew.
Tanks are a bit iffy, some like to go for extra dps for STR. Others like to just stack VIT. Either or.
Totally agree with you. I was tanking Ravana on DF the other day and was full Vit because I usually don't trust other tanks to help me soak blindind blade, and I also don't want to take it to the party because they spread sometimes and it can end up killing the healers, especially the longer the fight goes on. I have been maining tank for a while now, and I think its a direspect with healers to go full STR without even knowing how to handle cooldowns, waiting for healers to cover it up to you and then saying things like "lel tank aura useless vit is for newbs". The other day I even got a guy who said "its so much easier to heal a War with tank buff for a change".
But getting back in the topic, its as people said, these level up points doesn't really matter if you put them on vit or str as a tank, both stats are quite good for you. The best damage mitigation you'll get are gear and cooldown handling, anyway.
