Two seconds in google.
Because that's where the input configuration is at for the controller.
Boot up, Log in, alt+tab (or press the Steam icon on your controller) and set up your controller from there.
There should be a few presets made for it in FFXIV.
Edit: Or yeah. You could've used Google.
As I said I have it set up to run from Steam, and yes of course I am running it in BPM. I have been using the SC in many other games, including other non-steam games, with no issue. FFXIV is the only one with this problem so far. I have even tried changing the desktop config in BPM to a controller type with no result.
Will try and report back.
I reeeeaally hope this is a weird Steam bug. I'll try again tomorrow.

it seems the latest beta patch for the controller messes with the connection to the xiv client. Simply going into the system settings and unticking "participate in beta" then restarting big screen mode should fix it completely. Worked fine for me. Hope this helps guys!
