What's the problem with stormblood and Lyse?

I always read stuff about stormblood being the worst expansion and nobody liking Lyse and I'm kinda confused why it is that way?

I just recently finished stormblood and it's my fav expansion until now. I was completely invested in the story and was excited when I could play again.
Also Lyse is one of my fav Characters from the game. I love her style and story.

But still I would be interested in why I'm the minority here^^

I find Lyse is fine, but I felt like the pacing was kinda ll over the place until about half way.....

While this is highly opinion based, I didn't personally enjoy Lyse because she didn't really grow as a character and was just given leadership position on merit of someone's gotta. She also kind of delegated us into role of an almighty janitor in my opinion, and stormblood was lot of us just being the ultra powerful handyman who did other peoples jobs for them while getting none of the credit.

I love Lyse and Stormblood and I think it's a shame the game kinda forgot about these places and characters.

I liked Lyse as a character. I did not like how Stormblood basically gave her the credit for everything. She wasn't a leader, she didn't come up with any of the plans, she wasn't in the front lines of the battles. It felt like everyone else did the work and she got all of the credit for it.

I honestly never really understood the hate for Stormblood. Story wasn't as good as Heavensward, but it wasn't terrible, and stormblood had hands down the best combat content up until recently (dawntrail is making a pretty good argument atm of being just as good, if not better.)

I think the Lyse hate was overblown. The Yda to Lyse thing was contrived yeah but as far as her character goes I think she had good growth. She was put into a position of power at a time when she didn't want it or think she was right for it after Conrad's demise. But as time went on she learned how to lead properly, even had help from Raubahn.

Stormblood didn't do that and she was at the frontlines of battles.

Think a contributing factor was that the story was split between Ala Mhigo and Othard when it could have actually been an expac each.

I love the more grounded political/war focus of stormblood. Thats why i love FF 12, the Bozja Story and FF Tactics/Ogre. I was hoping we would be going back to something similar in dawntrail or the future... but nope, its still about saving the world from the great magical evil... The devs really abandoned this aspect of FF14

The plot all over the place in stormblood. I don't blame Lyse, I blame the poor quality of the story writing.

The whole Yda -> Lyse switcharoo was pretty stupid and I feel like even the writers kinda pretend it never happened (part of the reasons why all characters were like "duh, we already knew all along, Lyse").

Other than that, Stormblood writing was all over the place (literally) and it felt like often Lyse was just being promoted due to being a main character instead of due to any effort.

I've always thought SB was a ok expansion and I didn't mind Lyse very much, plus she was slowly phased out so she never became as bad as some people claim.

I do think the MSQ melodrama on the 4.x post-patches was really bad and a lot of plots ended up going nowhere.

Ivalice and Eureka were cool. Perhaps a bit long winded.
