FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

How does someone with the "Free Trial" account use the recruit a friend code?
I just bought my son "Shadowbringers Collectors Edition" so we can play together. However, when I log into his account it just shows : Account Type Free Trial
There is no area for him to input the code.
I haven't added Shadowbringers to his account yet because that will put him in the game anyways right?
He wouldn't need the code if he has the game right?
So we wont get the bonuses that way correct?

If it's free trial and you BOUGHT the game to him, normally he should get 30 free days. He needs his account and the license code added to mogstation. The one provided to you along with the game in your library. Once you do that, you get 30 days free then you can sub for more.

Ok but if he gets 30 days free, which i figured was the case. Then wouldn't the recruit a friend code only take effect after the 30 free days? Making it pointless (exp boost part anyways)?

Just to add, if all you bought was ShB, then you also need to buy the Starter Edition.

Oh. I think it does yes. But you don't lose anything. The friend recruit will be reward when he subs for his first month. Make sure to enter the friend recruit code before that or you'll lose it. For the trial period of 30 days (45 if he reaches lv50 I think), there won't be any rewards.

Yea so the ep boost is pointless then...

You and your friend wont even receive the friendship circlet (the 20% exp item) until after 30 days anyway.

During a Free Trial, you are not entitled to any boosts, perks, etc, from any code. You have a limited account. It is a demo of the game.

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/friend_recruit/

It's to prevent spam recruiting or abuse.

No rewards are earned until after the first paid 30 days since you recruited.

"These in-game rewards will be sent via moogle delivery service to recruited friends based on the length of their subscription. Note that the 30-day free play period does not count toward subscription length. (Purchasing subscription days using a game time card, however, will allow subscription days to be immediately accumulated)."

Also the ShadowBringers collectors edition includes all previous expansions, but does not include the base game.

The Collectors Edition only includes additional items, mounts, etc.

The COMPLETE Edition is what also comes with the base game.

Make sure you purchased the correct one.

Why in the hell wouldn't it include the base game? lol. I opened a support ticket to see if they will switch since i haven't even used the key yet.

Collector's just means you get extra in-game items, it even says on the Steam store that ShB requires the base edition of the game.

Because it is just the collectors edition, it has a few extra items that are unobtainable anywhere else. The items are exclusive to the collectors edition.

You really should read what you are buying. It is never a good idea to blindly purchase something if you don't know what it is you are purchasing.

Steam may not be able to give a refund as it says very clearly, "This item is not eligible for a refund"

Be careful and read before you purchase my guy. Same goes for real life, you don't just grab stuff off the shelf without looking do you? lol
