Choose a different world/data center. The first can be done in the last step of character creation. The latter can only be done in the main menu.
If you have any issues, feel free to contact me.
Try in the off hours like 3 hours from now, but even if you manage to create a character, you will have to wait at the back of the login queue as subscribers are given priority to login.
This will change back to normal in a few weeks, then you should have no trouble logging in whenever you like. The cause is the newest DLC released, everyone is spamming the new MSQ and whatnot.
These two posts are the correct answers. Congested servers are locked for everyone still, and free trial players are limited with logging on during prime time. We don't want a repeat of Endwalkers launch where servers were so congested and queues were so long they had to halt sales of the game.
The good answer is just revisiting the login UI with cross-platform and new user accessibility in mind. It's dated, as you say, and it would certainly not require much effort to fix.
It would just move the pain point to folks having invested more time and energy (and thus resulting in them being yet more angry). The systems in this game are dated. If you haven't been playing MMOs for a while, you're not going to figure out the retainer system (for example) intuitively. Or the gearing system. Or--
There's a lot, and it's all ancient. If they fix the login process, people aren't going to get filtered that are going to run into the *even worse* systems and be even more unhappy.
Login system/process/nonsense sort of provides a really, really good idea of what you're going to have to put up with to play the game. Fixing it might be doing people a disservice. ^^
That's actually very true. There's a lot past the UI screen that's convoluted, but hey, you want to at least ensure most people allowed to play, from all walks of life, can make it past Character Creation, LOL.
Noooooooooooooo. Sunk cost fallacy. You want as little time as possible invested before they bail, or they get caught in that and then you have people SCREAMING over inventory space and somebody told them they could be two jobs BUT THEY LIED and-and--- lolsob.
The Great Login Filter is Working As Intended imnsho.
It's not filtering people who don't know. People who don't know *ask*, get helped, and get in. It's filtering people who don't know and are ANGRY about it.
