She's not bad because of woke or whatever. She's bad because she's a boring character that's taken up more screen time than any other character before. She's a side character that decided to make the main character.

I mean, is the WoL really a good main character? Basically a voiceless statue with no personality who sits there and quietly gets his ass kissed in order to hamfist the idea that it's "his" story...

Turning other characters into the main characters and putting the WoL in a supporting role makes WAY more sense. I think the new direction is very intelligent.

Honestly I would unironically love if the WoL turned into a sort of Mad Max figure from here on out, wandering around the world and accidentally getting entangled in others' stories, only being the main character in that he's the viewpoint character.

A very general consensus is that people either find the character boring, or derivative, or poorly utilised.

Plenty of valid criticism towards Wuk Lamat has been stated numerous times across the boards. It's just much easier to respond to low hanging fruit (Anti-Woke Mob) than anyone who makes legitimate points isn't there? Like I see two people I saw in multiple threads here rushing to the defense of this character and the expansion yet anytime someone actually made well written and decent points for their subjective take; complete silence. Funny that. I mean if you have to focus on absolutely unhinged people who can't even define the words they are using to validate your own opinion, well.... I can't help you there.

It would be better if someone compiled these supposedly valid criticisms, and listed them in a separate thread. I've not seen any, but that's largely due to the fact that every thread - on nearly every game these days, even - is inundated with this brainrot.
I know that with Baldur's Gate 3, there was a thread that compiled development promises, with citations. Something in that vain would be valuable. Simply edit the thread topic to include the criticisms, that way they're not lost.

I’m going through the story again without skipping anything this time. I don’t have a problem with Wuk Lamat. As far as the English actor goes the only time I thought they were bad was at the very end in the final trial. Otherwise I didn’t mind them and they fit the character well enough for the most part imo.

The problem is the pacing and just an overall poor scenario presentation. The meme of speak with Wuk Lamat is real. It’s a lazy/annoying way to progress the story.

The tweet they made for FFXIV specifically has, of course, been deleted like many of their tweets. Are you really saying that just because SBI deleted the tweet, that FFIXV is THE ONE TITLE of SE that they, for some reason, didn't get their fingers in? That's some next level "pretend it didn't happen."

Also, given the track record of SBI announcing that if they work on something, it's PR gets ripped apart. It makes sense they would delete the tweet as they have done for SO MANY other things they said/done.

So now I have some proof with SE being listed as a client, where's your proof they didn't other than "They didn't say they did, so they didn't. Trust me bro."?

I find wuk lamat very enjoyable to be around, I like how she grows over the expansion, how she comes to see cultures directly, instead of the sheltered perspective.
How she grows out of the "i must not show weakness" mindset.
How she forgives those who she deem are redeemable.

The emotional range is less than favorable.
While sadness and joy are really well done.
Intense emotions like anger seem.. surpressed. As if the VA had neighbors to think of.

I do like the fact that the WoL takes the seat of mentor, staying near and assisting. While letting Wuk Lamat learn on her own pace, but shouldering her fall should she make a mistake.

i don't use X, what are they saying over there? Not a fan of Wut being the single main character for the first part of the expansion btw.

I Could care less about her VA i just swapped to Japanese and problem is fixed, woo . .

The problem is awful MSQ writing, Dawntrail is their worst expansion to date and if they double down on it in post i will not purchase any of the products in future.

I'm already at point where this is the only game of theirs i look at due to sheer incompetency across all their other titles. They make fun gameplay but the stories have been dogwater for a long time outside of FFXIV, Only now is this company wide Brainrot infecting FFXIV.

If you think SBi didn't touch one of SE's biggest Geese that lays the golden eggs, then perhaps you're the one with the brain rot. Though like I said, bury your head in the sand and just pretend it didn't happen. I'm not against DEI or "Woke Ideology" overall, just SBI.
