You don't get to skip to the end of any other game to get to it's DLC why would FFXIV be differnt?
Regardless, you logged in and got more game than you expected to get. I don't really see the problem.
As far as dying, just dust it off and go again. You can set it to Easy/Very Easy after failing a duty, nobody's gonna know if you press one.
They could make patch content non-mandatory for going into the expansions, i beat edgy mcedgerson and that was the true end of endwalker. They don't because they want to bore you into giving them 25 bucks more
Then complaining you have to restart something because you failed it...
Is this the new "me" generation? I didn't think "I should be able to do anything and everything while using the lowest effort possible while having almost everything done for me" could get worse... Yet here we are...
The game is already insanely simple minded and grossly brain rot easy. It's literally just spamming a specific rotation of keys, with no thought process, and dodging big obvious lit up areas on the ground... that's it.. that's 99% of the game.
don't get me started on the players who are maxed out levels on multiple classes, and still apparently have no clue that role skills exist, and refuse to use them.
There was no bait n switch lawyer speech.
They said if you pre order, you got certain items, and got to play the expansion early.
You were not at the expansion stuff yet. You hadn't completed the story yet, so obviously you can't do that part yet..
This isn't rocket science.
in-fact, it DOES tell you, and they have said multiple times on multiple platforms "Make sure you've caught up in the story in preparation for Dawntrail"
You didn't.. and now you want to complain about bait n switch...
Its stupid to waste my time after luring me in with "play the new expansion early" you are going to lose way more players than you gain that have been absent for months if not years. No I didn't see any "catch up on your chores lil timmy, the PRODUCT YOU ARE PAYING FOR won't be available to you unless you get kryle her damn tea so get to work!" notices. They blatantly make returning players waste the 2 hour return window spamming quests to prevent a return from steam. Very clever lawyer move, right up there with "Ion Has Cost us". In the future make patch content optional, or don't bait and switch early access. You got me this time, i won't make the mistake of pre-ordering again.
You got the product you are paying for...
If I buy WoW now, can I go do the last dungeon of the game right away? No I can't.
Stop pretending like your argument makes any sense..
Its like if you did play wow and you beat the litch king and skipped ruby sanctum because it looked dumb, only to come back and be forced to kill those dragons under wyrmrest before you could move on. This is garbage.
So if I buy a level skip in WoW, I can do dungeons that are story relevant with absolutely no idea what any of it is about?
Seems stupid to me.
Actually, in WoW, you can do exactly that. All WoW cares about is your level. When it comes to a new expansion, you have to get your level up, which means going through quests, but it doesn't force you to do all of the content from the previous expansions before you can access those quests. I mean, I could literally start up a brand new WoW account right this moment, buy a level 90 boost, and then immediately start on the current content. I would not be forced to start on the content all the way back to classic.
After reading what the OP has stated, I actually find the way FFXIV does it to be a little shocking. It tells me that if I was to buy Dawntrail, I would be starting all the way at the very first release? So, I would be forced to go through months upon months of old content before I would even be able to see the new stuff? Yeah, I agree with the OP, not very new player friendly there. It also means the OP wasn't truly given any actual early access.
