Free Trial not working

I downloaded the free trial but I am getting a message saying my, "This service account does not have a valid Final Fantasy XIV license for this platform or your subscription has expired." I have never played this game in any aspect. Support tab was less than helpful. How do I get the account reset or am I missing something.

As others said the game is under maintenance due to release of new expansion (early access). Main reason for such long period is them preparing for huge congestions.

The period for the maintenance is roughly:
"Jun. 26, 2024 2:00 a.m. to Jun. 28, 2024 2:00 a.m. (PDT)

RIP starting a free trial now. With the expansion launch ques will be insane and free players are pushed to the back of the line of paying players so unless you find a way to log in in the middle of the night and never get offlined or reported you wont be getting in for like a month.

Sorry to hear that, but don't worry it's only temporary. It'll be back up by Friday I believe and then you will have to download some more of the game. But after that, you make your account on the website, and signing thru steam - and your off to the races. I hope to see you in the game!

Edit: oh yeah.... the log in ques for DT.... well, at least your free trial is indefinite until you reach the requirements for sub (or want a retainer, use the market-board/trade, or etc)!

You will encounter big congestions in upcoming weekend and next one starting from 2th of July(release of full version of the expansion). If you made your character or will make one on preferred world you might get shorter logging queues.

preferred are new worlds which are less populated

Once you get past logging queues you might find queues for duties as DPS way longer due to 2 new DPS jobs coming with the newest expansion.

He shouldn't have a issue with that, as right now all US data centers are locked down (no DC travel either from what I read). All new players are forced into Dynamis, and temporarily all the worlds there will be preferred (not just the two new ones).

Not a great thing however for those of us in Aether, who will not be able to DC hop to a less populated one during peak ques. We are locked into the madhouse. lmao.

lol, yeah. SE has been trying their bests to get people to go to Dynamis for a year now. Last fall, they offered any veteran player a Free World Transfer to the new data center, Double exp (stack-able with gear and items) for several months, 1 million gil, and 10 Gold Chocobo Feathers if you would agree to stay there for THREE MONTHS (locked in).

I actually agreed, and spent three months in the deadest neither region of the game you could imagine. Literally every single day of the week I had to DC travel to another region just to do TT, Frontlines, CC, or even some raids and duties. IT was a nightmare, and I think horror stories like that drove people away from there.

Every single day on Aether, we see 'traveler' next to a tenth of the players. If you do roulette you will have them in nearly every party. It's all these new players who are forced to do what I did last year. So I am feel like this is papa SE finally FORCING people to adopt that DC once and for all. lmao.

The problem that you are having may not actually be related to the patch.

When you open the game with steam it opens the paid version by default, to play the free trial you have to go to your folder where your ffXIV is and open the free version

im pretty sure there will be no free trial for a while if the servers are too busy it just says something like "the servers are too busy at the moment to permit free trial users" and closes
normaly it happens only sometimes during peek hours but im afraid during the launch the servers will be too busy to even let freetrial users in to the que

When Endwalker came out, they temporarily stopped doing the free trial cause the servers were so congested. They're probably gonna do the same tomorrow too.

what happens is that free trial players get put to the end of the queue, and if the queue fills up all the way, 'end of the queue' is 'can't queue at all'
