Why can't DDoS attacks go after people who deserve it? Jeff Bezos?

I know that DDoS attacks are designed to cause massive disruption and because FF14 is very popular then it's a big target for these kinds of things.

But seriously, attack people who deserve it. I just wanted to log in and play a little and have some fun and YES I KNOW, THIS IS NOT A BIG PROBLEM REALLY.

You do know that Amazon Web Services cover nearly 33% of the cloud computing market, right? Not just Jeff Bezos would be a victim. Actually, a lot of small businesses rely on AWS. Square uses AWS, small businesses use Square for customer-end payment. Who’s really being attacked here? Bezos? No. Everyone else.

Im not saying a DDOS attack is good, but if you're performing one then the point is to cause as much disruption as possible, especially when the service you're disrupting is your target.

Undercutting so hard at a loss back 25 years ago wasn’t that cool of a move. I’ll agree with that. But what he’s done with AWS has made that negligible. Unless, they decide to force some bull by increasing their prices to business partners later on when/if they have higher market control.

As someone who knows how much drama this game brings out in people, my brain can't help but jump to the conclusion that some dude's cat girl gf dumped him so he's doing a DDoS attack to get back at her, or something along those lines. It honestly wouldn't shock me if that was the case. lmao

Well, DDoSing is a crime. A criminals idea of "who deserve"s something is probably not the same as yours. Being a multi billion dollar company with weak cyber security probably counts as "deserving" to the ones doing this.

Literally this too. I once watched someone take down Ariana Grande's website for a week just to show his friends he could do it; and for fun. You never fully know what's going on inside this sort of person's head.
