You running graphical mods? That error is common when you run those and they conflict with something. If you are, perform a start over on your mod program and try to figure out which mod is causing the issues, if not, then I'm stumped.
Restart your computer
Update your graphics card
Restart your computer again
Still failing
Steam > Verify Game files
Best I can do.

Maybe try deleting and reinstalling the game files (not just the launcher) while we wait for the DDoS to stop?
I've tried:
• reinstalling the game
• downloading dx9 on windows website
• force dx9 on launch settings
• verify files on steam says "the game has its own client". (So that don't work)
• changed the nvidia options on nvidia control panel
• CMD scans
• disable firewall
• remove steam_api.dll in boot game files
What I think fixed it was:
• Disable rendering of objects when not visible. (Occlusion Culling). -in game graphics settings-
• Use low-detail models on distant objects. (LOD)
• remove steam_api.dll in boot game files.
DDos attack I just noticed login in today.
System specs:
Gigabyte 3080ti
Ryzen 7 5800X
(2x8gb) 16gb RAM DDR4
Running it on crucial SSD storage.
i know for sure it's not hardware issue.
only time i ever crashed to desktop was during attempted log in when it wouldnt connect to data center after hitting the start button. otherwise it just kicks me back out to the title screen to attempt a log in again. probably best to just take the day off from playing.
I got a similar PC to yours, and what caused my crashes was the game didn't like the GPU undervolt settings I was using.
This game is extremely sensitive to CPU and GPU adjustments, whether they be overclocks or under volts. If you have software that pushes your CPU or GPU above stock frequencies (including motherboard features) you might want to consider disabling those.
I had enable secure boot on the motherboard settings to play Valorant. I think changing it back to default helped
1) you overklocking your GPU => solution : rollback to defaut GPU / GPU memory settings
2) bad CPU overcloking can also affect your system stability (and u can say why this only happens in games ? caus games are using 100% of some cpu cores, and oc instability os more likely to appear when one / many cores are at full usage ...)
3) you installed a buggy addon for ffxiv (i dont go on more details for this one) just disable any installed addon
so my advice :
1) rollback any CPU / CPU OC
2) reinstall your GPU drivers (on the fly hangouts can cause GPU driver corruption)
3) check game files for corruption / repair
and if you havent done any OC it can be a sign of a GPU hardware issue (yes GPUs can have issues with time)
Installed the game on the C: drive solved the issue. Had it installed on the SSD and FF14 did not like it.
My theory is the game relies on d3d11_43.dll extension on the C: drive. If you download the game on an external drive or SSD it has trouble locating the d3d11_43.dll extension.
Thank you all, for the help and much appreciated the effort
You might want to get your boot drive swapped to an SSD for 7.0 though if this is indeed the issue, it has been specifically stated that HDDs will severely impact performance with the new update.
