If you already bought a windows license in the past then it's not possible to link to steam as far as I'm aware.
Otherwise I'm not really sure.

If you want to play on steam, you'd have to create a new square enix account. Steam and "windows" versions cannot be mixed. If you try to put a steam code into the mog station on an account that already has a windows version you'll get an error and it wont let you use the code.

login on your mogstation and on the first page you'll see a button right bellow your crysta balance with 2 arrows opposing each other click on it and in the page that opens click in +Add new service account then you can add a steam licence to the same account this way you can keep the same login but i dont know if you can keep your progress from the windows version

You can't. You're already playing the better version anyway not beholden to steam so why move?

Not worth it. I looked into it, but you don't get anything special from the Steam version (achievements, etc). Just go to your Steam library and add a non-steam game (your FF XIV) and then you can launch it using Steam and have it show up on your friends list that you're playing.

Yeah you cant I wanted to do this to play FFXIV on steamdeck without having to load a third party launcher. Talked to Square Enix support, and they told me I would need to create a totally new service account. Was nothing I could do.

its only possible if your account is still in trial status.
a trial account can choose its plattform freely for a full license (except the trial got already started here on steam).
if you have already a license on the account is it not possible

if you get a new account+a steam license, make REALLY sure you are logged in into your new SE account and the correct steam account. a lot of peoples making the mistake that they do not pay attention and then linking the wrong accounts together. it will screw your windows SE account if you accidently link thatone to steam xD.

You don't need third party launcher. In General tab set LAUNCH OPTIONS to: NOSTEAM=1 %command%
