FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

The biggest issue with the free trial...
Don't get me wrong, the trial is insanely generous, more so than any other game that I have seen, but I feel like there is one major issue holding it back. I was told that free trial players can not form parties or do the little 8 person things.

Why would you block these two things of all things. I feel like this are the two single biggest things that would help get people into this game. Like, I am already playing the trial and liking it, but none of my friends play it, and I can't even try to talk them into trying it with me, because the first thing they always ask is if we can party up and play it together. I always have to answer that I do not believe so.

It seems like the demo should learn MORE into the multiplayer aspect, NOT LESS.

Just my thoughts.

Because SE and the community doesn't want the party finder littered with bots advertising their crap.

It always comes down to bots when it comes to social restrictions on the free trial because bots can be created from an unlimited amount of free trial accounts.

Its a Demo basically, it needs to have limitations.

So restrict them from the party finder, and just give them access to person to person party building.

I agree, but this is not the right thing to limit. People are more likely to start playing and keep playing if they can build an attachment to a community.

minor point of clarification: Free Trial players -themselves- cannot make parties, but existing players can invite them into a party. Also the Duty Finder is how you can do the 8 man trials (which is pretty much every trial from post ARR on.) Since the trial goes up to Stormblood now, free players would still need to have access in order to do that content.

I've never seen it as a problem since paid players can make parties and free trial players can join these parties. Just ask a random dude in Limsa to party you and give you the leader or something.

Blame all the gold sellers and botters that have abused the systems in the past. Any restriction you see on a free trial for any paid game are because when they tried to be nice it got abused and thus taken away for everyone because of the bad eggs.

They already do that with stolen accounts though. But yeah, I guess it would be even worse if free trial bots could join in.

You can't make parties as a trial user, but you are not perma banned from doing 8-man content, I'm not sure who told you that but that's 100% wrong.

I’m not exactly sure why trial accounts can’t make parties. I get not using party finder, though I guess that would make savage and extreme sync’s rather difficult because you might as well be locked out if you’re running it in duty finder… though, I guess now all the mentors have something to do..

I mean, I guess the theory is if you’re going to talk with your friends you’re going to do it on discord now? And I guess the reason for this limitation is that the free trial is largely to see if you’re okay with the MSQ? Because the MSQ is really the biggest stopgap to entry, and they want to remind you that you are playing the trial? Idk.

do you know how hard it is to just block bots from joining things? lol therefore they just restrict it from the free trial players. those of us to actually pay dont want to be stuck in a dungeon or a raid with players who dont do anything

Imagine if you would, an army of spambots and gold sellers spamming people with group invites to get their attention and that pop up appearing dozens of times the moment you arrive in a city.

Same reason they're also blocked from creating their own guilds and the global channels. spam and communication throttling.

So you are saying FF14 has a bot problem, got it. However, that seems like and issue they should fix separately.

this IS a fix. I'm sorry you find it inconvenient, but like. There's only a few ways to deal with bots.
