Is it a good time to hop in FF14?

I've never played FF14, always wanted to give it a try. Been thinking about it with my friend, and we planned to try it soon, but now I've seen that there are some problems with ddos, servers ect.
Is it worth to jump in now, or should we wait untill everything calms down? Are those disconnects that often?

It has a few limitations, but allows you to play content up to the end of Stormblood (Lv.70 cap).

The game is only going to get more populated as Dawntrails releases soon, so now would be a good time to try it, plus you can upgrade that Trial to the Full Steam version whenever you like.

give the game a chance! the possibility to play the game almost completely unrestricted up to level 60 is really great! And: don't let the story or the slow progression in the game drag you down - everything is intended and has to be like this. I can't keep my hands off it anymore and I'm incredibly glad that I stuck with it on my third attempt...

IF you choose to take advantage of the Free-Trial,

Be mindful that, the Gameplay does not start to pickup until the End of it.

Endgame Gameplay in FFXIV is quite different than what the Free-Trial (mostly) offers.

gonna take the chance to ask this, if I want to sub now lets say can I do it freely or should I wait for dawntrail to release then sub or buy the expansion thats what confuses me

is there anything you want to do ingame right now? if so then just resub if not then wait for the expansion

no but what I mean is if I want to start my sub like quit the free trial right now lets say I'm gonna have to buy endwalker and THEN later dawntrail right? or will endwalker be included in the normal sub ?
idk if its making sense what im saying lol

Endwalker will be included with Dawntrail once it comes out
the old Expansions are added to the newest Expansion for free
Buying Endwalker will give you Shadowbringers
Buying Dawntrail will give you Endwalker & Shadowbringers
you still have to buy an expansion on top of the subscription fee

Now is a great time.

Download and play the trial. Do not purchase the game and sub until you fight the Ultimate Weapon. Once you've done that fight, you have chewed through ARR, and if you still want to play at that point you will know.

So you can buy Starter edition at that point, no expansions. It'll remove the restrictions, you'll get to join a FC, use the auction house, blah blah.

Once you are ready to purchase, buy Dawntrail. Do not buy Endwalker or the Complete Edition now.

Prelaunch for Dawntrail is June 28. You will not be done with Stormblood before then unless you nolife it.

Preordering Dawntrail when you buy Starter edition, you will get access to all of the expansions on June 28th, AND you will get an earring that is a 30% XP boost -- and you get that earring now.

But seriously, do not spend ANY money until after you've fought the Ultimate Weapon.

I actually started trying it out and it sort of brings me back to a time where I would sink many, many hours into these types of exploitative open world experiences when I must much younger. It's actually pretty fun. I like coming across live players of people who are around my level and others who are much more established and experienced. It definitely makes the video game feel more lively.
