New payment processor update not allowing any debit cards
At least for NA. This includes visa/mastercard debit cards. Don't even bother trying to contact support because they are just giving copy/paste responses to everyone. Trying to raise more awareness since most people won't even know the problem exists until they can't login anymore.

you should had read the notice on website :
the change to the payment processor used for purchases on the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station, FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store and Square Enix Account Management sites is scheduled to be implemented on April 23, 2024. This should not have an impact on most purchases, but we want to share some information to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

After April 23, 2024, we will be confirming the address for the account for payment security purposes. You can confirm and update your registered address by logging into the Square Enix Account Management System and accessing the “Account Information” section from the "Account" menu.

I’m already aware of that, and it doesn’t address the debit issue, only the address confirmation.

SEA players are secondhand citizens in SE's eyes.

Should have bought it on Steam so you can use Steam Wallet.

Not even an option, but thanks for the the response that wasn’t even intended to be remotely helpful.

Does this work for people with fake address? I remember people having issues with address mismatch.

Yes, it works because you add funds to the Wallet which has nothing to do with Square Enix or their payment processor, one of the best things about the Steam version.

LOL. I always direct people away from steam for this game.

the reason people have fake addresses in the first place is because you can only register 14 using addresses from NA/EU/JPN.
SEA players, can't do that.
Any players outside of those can't do it.
PS: The game is not even in their steam version.

And then in some rare cases, people who started playing in one of those 3 places while working/studying etc.
Comes back home where they aren't part of those 3.
And they get hit by a new steam region that doesn't have 14.
now, how well does steam play with VPN?

as a 1.0 player playing on steam is not possible without making a new account which i got no interest in doing

Your account can hold all versions of the game. I can log into my 1.0 character on a single account on my PC, Steam(deck), and PS5. As long as you have the version you want to play activated on your account (you can activate any/all platform versions on the same account), you can log in from any platform with any character.

Except Steam and Windows. You can NOT have those both on one account. As a 1.0 player, no they cannot do what you are describing. They could add it as a non steam game, but they can’t have the steam version. Steam and Windows share a slot.

However, due to some additional features associated with the Steam platform, a standard Windows PC version of FINAL FANTASY XIV is incompatible with a Steam version of the same title. Expansions also must be registered on the same platform as their base game.

Not entirely, When it comes to the Windows license. You either buy directly from Square Enix or you use Steam. there is none in between and a Steam license key wouldn't activate the SE version of the game

Yeah, I do have XIV registered on Windows (Steam) and PS5 and I can play through all of them but if I want to play the PC version. Steam must be installed and running at the same time. even the custom launcher (XIVLauncher) does have a specific setting for Steam Authentication
