Can't update subscription on MogStation (error code i2501)
I went to make a Steam payment through MogStation and it almost worked. I got the "sign in through Steam" window to show up, looked at my payment, and hit cancel (I chose the 180 days on accident, I wanted 30).

Now any time I attempt to make a payment again, I get a message saying that the service is unavailable to me or something. Looked through Square's support page, and it said I'm either using a VPN or have a bad connection. I don't think I have a terrible connection, and I made sure I wasn't using a VPN on my browser.

I then said "♥♥♥♥ it, I'll just add my card directly..." but then it wouldn't accept my card.

Apparently one reason is that I tried too many times, so I need to wait 24-48 hours. I don't mind waiting, but is there something else I should try?

I would log out of Steam completely, restart it and then try again with the correct amount of days selected, once you get to the Wallet, it will ask for you to add the remaining required funds if the Wallet doesn't have enough in it, using your payment method that you used to add funds in the first, such as a credit or debit card. It may not work for other types of payment, unsure.

But you should have no problem paying using Steam Wallet.
Just don't cancel the transaction or it will cause issues.

The error is when your address mismatches between steam, mog station, & the device you're on's location.
Check to see if your steam address needs to be updated/ is correct;
Check to make sure your Square Enix account address matches your steam address.
& do it on a laptop or desktop on your local internet.
i had this same issue like 30 min ago cause i was trying to do it from my phone & doing it at my PC made it work immediately.

that's all i got that might help solve it

I'm not sure where to find my steam address, or if you just meant my billing address, but those should be the same. I've been doing it from my PC from the beginning, except one time I tried from mobile, and that hasn't helped either.

I also checked a news update on Square's site, apparently there was a maintenance update where they disabled credit card payments? But it was a few days ago now, and I was using Steam to try and make the payment.

Would something as simple as "Road" being "Rd." on one address but not the other cause problems? Do you mean I should do it from a different PC, or just a PC in general?

Let me know if I can do anything else, or if I misinterpreted something you said. I'm just gonna wait a few days and see if I was flagged for attempting too many times... I just don't wanna come back and see the wait was for nothing.

see if you can do any of the trouble shooting steps from here
https://new.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1cdgacj/psa_mogstation_payment_issues_and_workarounds/
if not then i think you may just have to weather it out until Square enix get's it solved on their end.
if you can then Paypal & Crysta might be a valid work around for now

There seems to be a problem logging into the game right now, I wouldn't suggest you do anything on mogstation until the problems get solved.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of card are you trying to use? The new payment processor update is currently preventing usage of pretty much all debit cards, including visa/mastercard debit cards.

The only person to mention the steam wallet is you...

I'm using a Visa, but yes I'm also trying to make a Steam payment.

I looked at the reddit post's workarounds as well, and it seems like the tl;dr is:

VISA debit cards are having issues
Having the wrong country set to your account causes issues
Error code i2501 doesn't really get fixed with these (someone in the comments also says wait one to two days or contact SE support)
Try using Edge
Maybe buy Crysta through PayPal

I've never moved countries, and I triple-checked the address info, so it seems like the issue is my card because of something on their end. I might try going through PayPal to see if that works, but for now I'll just wait a bit longer.

I was able to get crysta with paypal(which I hate having to use), but debits seem borked in general, not just visas. I don't think support will be much help as they seem to be giving boilerplate copy/paste responses to everyone.

This will blow up in the coming weeks as the majority of people only learn about the issue when they can't login anymore.

I have the game on steam and i have a visa debit which I can easily use to add money to my steam wallet which is then used for the monthly sub.
Visa debit works to add money to steam wallet for sure.

The new payment processor from what I read, requires that you add an address that matches your SE account.

That doesn't seem to matter if you pay by Steam Payment > Wallet Funds.
Which I do, no problem, just bought a costume set on the MogStation and had no problem.

This seems to be a problem if paying directly on the MogStation and Steam Payment is handled completely by Steam, nothing to do with SE and the MogStation junk.

Edit:
Try putting only Letters, Numbers and Spaces in your address, I read if you put in: . , - / type characters, it will yield the "invalid address" error, so try to leave those out and see if it works.
Like if you use 1/1, remove the / and just use a space or single numbers, worth a try some people are reporting success this way, even with game time cards.

I made sure to update my addresses to match 1 for 1, and it still didn't work.
I didn't have enough money in my Steam account in advance for the transaction, but a window popped up where I could've added funds. Now I can't even get that window to show up ever.
Would having the money ready in advance change anything? I really don't want to put money on my account unless it'll work.

You know if Square Enix actually documented their errors in a knowledge database like other publishers/developers then you wouldn't have to ask strangers on the Steam forums who have no clue how to troubleshoot it other than "go to reddit" or "your debit card just doesn't work lol". :lunar2019piginablanket:

SQEX does seem notoriously bad on the support side of things.
