Equipment suggestions

So… I’ve been playing this game for about a month and a half and I’m about to hit level 50 as a paladin. I’m also about to do the mission to take on a mission titled “the ultimate weapon”. I feel like most of my armor is ok however I feel like with the accessories I currently have equipped I could be better.

My current equipment is as follows:

Ancient sword

Gallant crown

tortoiseshell armor

Galant gauntlets

Galant cuisses

Galant sollerets

colbolt scutum

sunstone earrings

weathered choker

dawn wristbands

brand-new ring

aethrrial danburite ring.

If there’s anything that you guys recommend for my equipment that are better thane what I have now please let me know. I could really use all the help I can get at this point.

Go to any major city (New Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah) and find the NPC

And buy iL 130 - Augmented Ironworks gear.

This vendor in the major city of the expansion will sell your BIS and that gear will carry you the next 10 levels in terms of gear.

If you buy the Augmented Ironworks gear, you will not need to rebuy gear until you reach 60, and then there is another vendor in HW main city that sells similar gear, which will carry you to 70, etc etc.

They can't until AFTER they complete the Ultimate weapon

Poetic exchange for ARR is only available after beating base ARR (2.0)
Same with all the expansions; you need to beat the base DLC to unlock poetic exchanges (3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0)

But Havok is right about getting the gear; the poetic exchange gear will carry you through the entire of the post content & halfway into the next DLC

As long as your overall item-level meets the duty requirement, i wouldn't worry too much about it. Especially on msq duties.

If I remember correctly the main stuff in "The Ultimate Weapon" lock item level and while I'm not sure if it syncs up it's low enough that you'll probably be fine with the set you recieve after your level 50 job quest.
After that it's good to focus on tome gear like others are saying, probably focus on replacing your lowest item level equipment first (ie your accessories if you dont find replacements), but weapons (or in your case sword+shield) can be a substantiap upgrade as well

Your Lv50 job quest gives you i90 armor, the Lv50 main scenario quests before the Ultimate Weapon quests gives you i70 accesorrys. After that Lv50 Arr quests give you i110 full armor. Hw gives gear from i115 all the way to i240, other expansions do the same. Currently they hand out gear all the way to Lv90 i545/i560.

Buying any gear(if you only level one or two jobs) is a waste of time/resources on a new character, he needs like 3500 Poe for on job, story and job quests give you all the catch up gear you ever need.

Just buy any gear lvl 50 FFXIV gear system is old everything goes out of use really fast except what you buy for tomes in each expansion those will be your bread and butter until the start/mid of Endwalker
