FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
So which mods are "allowed"
I understand that mods that will make you get 100% loot changes are pretty much cheating, as well as all mods are a reason to get banned, but are mods that you can install that the devs give them a "pass"? Or are mods allowed in private servers? If they are I haven't played this game yet

That sounds suspiciously fake. Also SE GMs do not disclose how they punish other players, an 'e-stalker' being in the same area as another player does not breach any player code of conduct rules too. IE, I'm in a populated hub area talking to friends and someone who blocked me reports me for stalking them is not actually stalking irrespective of perceived offense :cuphead:

Yeah, that's the typical "trust me bro" source. It's no different from those who knew "several people" who took the covid shot and turn into alligators or something.

E-stalking very much is an offense and is specifically outlined as prohibited behavior in SE's behavioral policy article. Hanging out in the same hub, does not count, nor was that what I was implying; that was simply an instance of the other user, by virtue of their own skepticism - which they are fine to have - projecting a misunderstanding. Repeatedly following someone around WITHIN the same hub, or to their ward, out to zones when farming, and so forth IS. And I've witnessed it happen and witnessed no significant disciplinary action. That's also the issue. It is too hush-hush, when the victim is being WRONGED. There is zero closure other than the scripted, "Please block and blah blah blah," and SE more than certainly does not ban main accounts tied to alts that go on harassment rounds, hence the loophole.

Regardless, all of this was tacked onto the more significant point of the usefulness of Voidlisting. You do not need to believe the point I am making in support of Voidlisting to understand its usefulness.

They're adding it in game next expansion.

Voidlisting should be incorporated into the base game

launching with dawntrail

Now that's terrific news - that and estate expulsion.

Yeah. It's everything I hoped for as somebody who has had to deal with e-stalking. Take a look through the slide deck. They even have provisions for what happens if somebody invites you and somebody you blacklisted both to the same party. Well thought out, well done.

This is not about believing you or not, people are well aware there are creeps and criminals in online games. The point is people like you, and your "I've met several players" thing try to make look like a large portion of the playerbase is like that, which simply isn't true.

It doesn't really matter how anyone interprets what I have said. It doesn't detract from what I have directly experienced, or from the greater point that was being made. These experiences are also mainly due to the fact that I've played on a very populated shard + DC since ARR, so problems are simply more likely to arise there compared to elsewhere.
None but there not going to actively look for you using them ppl that get a ban- short one at that- are usually ppl steaming it so dont stream your self or share picks of you braking the in game TOS and you are good

Tho i find it funny ppl play this just fine on Console/controller yet you need to use mods to beat raids lol

I mean how do you know that? Can you check every data center, every world, every main hub? Can you see every whisper and tell when someone is being followed across multiple maps?

You're comparing your anecdotal to theirs and kinda brushing it off.

Can you? No? So how do you know?

So, because I can't check every whisper on every world I must assume that there's a lot of harassment going on? By that logic we should assume there's abuse going on every single house on the planet, since we can't check all of them.

I never said "it doesn't happen because it never happened to me or anyone I know", so I didn't use any anecdotal. I also never denied stuff like that doesn't happen, but when someone makes a claim that met several players that were harassed, "trust me bro" ain't gonna cut it.

Outside of me doxxing my friends, or sharing screenshots, which would violate the privacy of everyone involved, it makes little sense to use anything beyond an anecdote to support the usefulness of - check notes - a plugin SE indeed finds useful and will be incorporating into the game come Dawntrail as a feature.

SE is incorporating it because they're tired of sifting through nothingburger reports where nothing actually happens and for your own convenience as to minimize harm done to both parties. Everyone wins. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Who said it was for my convenience? Did you bother to even read what you were replying to?

When the plugin becomes mainstream, it will significantly lessen moderation workload and the amount of moderators on SE's payroll. I haven't personally touched a ticket in years because of it.

But of course, SE gets to keep the revenue generated by RMTers/Botters, passive-aggressive delinquents, and policy-skirting weasels with ASPD because they'll be deleted from everyone's in-game existence, but still present. It'll certainly be a financial win for SE.

No mods are allowed, not even cosmetic mods.

There is no gray area.

Modding is absolutely NOT allowed in this game.
When you get caught you will get banned for it
There are literally screenshot contest winners ENDORSED BY XIV using mods, from ReShade to removing the sandals on your feet. So no, not all mods will get you banned.
Those screenshots are obviously faked
