FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

So which mods are "allowed"
I understand that mods that will make you get 100% loot changes are pretty much cheating, as well as all mods are a reason to get banned, but are mods that you can install that the devs give them a "pass"? Or are mods allowed in private servers? If they are I haven't played this game yet

Melo was streaming with ACT on and didn't even have the courtesy to abbreviate player names. I wasn't watching when it happened, but wouldn't be surprised if some ♥♥♥♥ talking happened and someone decided to report Melo over it. Otherwise Twitch wouldn't have gotten involved. Twitch isn't going to ban you because you violated rules in regards to the game you are playing. Twitch would have banned Melo for being an ass and harassing people.

You'd have to have a pretty vindictive person in your stream to report you to SE if all you were using were cosmetic mods in the vain of UI mods or something. And certainly Twitch wouldn't ban you for that.
Out of curiosity Tsurayu chan who is streaming with cosmetic mods on? Because I actively watch a lot of popular streamers and raiders.

I've definitely noticed a few of the small creators using things like that material-ui mod. Not sure if they're streaming but they have recent clear VODs with this stuff visible.

The stance from Japanese game devs has always been "no mods allowed', nothing, nada.

But if you want to mod it client side who would care or know.

All mods are allowed as long they do not touch the core game mechanics, like combat mods and such. and the rule is do not say it in Public you use mods, even though SE does not really care since nearly half of the player base mods and banning them will cost them too much money loss. But never use them while Streaming, not because you will get reported as that wont happen. it is mainly for your own safety as some Vanilla white knights [or people with too bad of hardware or knowledge to mod] will do what they can to make your life difficult be it In game or Real Life. they will dox you or worse. I've been modding for years, i even create mods [Primarily outfit ones and some plugins] but i play it smart.

Incorrect. If they were allowed, why would you not be able to talk about them like they're clandestine? Nobody thinks an outfit mod = firing squad, but let's be serious. "All mods are allowed" ... "so long as you don't talk about them, don't stream with them, keep it to yourself, oh and if someone reports you, you can get banned."

Does that sound like they're allowed?

you described cheating. you need to put a difference between cheat mods/plugins which give players an adventage and mods which simply only mod clothing which would not affect you.
No we don't because both are banned all the same.

The default sandals that's bound to our feet when we have no footwears equipped.
Ah, its honestly been a while since I've ever seen my character without an armor set.

The best mod is a mod called Voidlist. They're adding it in game next expansion. It basically not only blacklist someone, but completely removes their model on the screen. I have to use it a lot during June Month because there are a lot of disgusting looking characters from certain 5 letter alphabet FCs, and I rather not see them, in real life and in game.

Voidlisting should be incorporated into the base game, or SE should overhaul the friend/unfriend/blocking system. If you have someone added, and removed, they should not still have you on their list.

I've met several male and female players that have been e-stalked and harassed in-game, who have had to use Voidlist because support simply refuses to do anything.

SE does not bother with blacklisting addresses and legal names tied to accounts to prevent alting, so alt/throw-away accounts have remained the loophole since forever. In fact, I've seen swifter disciplinary action toward people quoting profanity used in cutscenes than targeted and continued player harassment.

SE should be reversal compatible.
If I 'ban someone' from talking to me, then they should be banned for life, UNTIL, I unban them.

That sounds suspiciously fake. Also SE GMs do not disclose how they punish other players, an 'e-stalker' being in the same area as another player does not breach any player code of conduct rules too. IE, I'm in a populated hub area talking to friends and someone who blocked me reports me for stalking them is not actually stalking irrespective of perceived offense :cuphead:

reading the TOS it's pretty clear, any form of modifcation is not allowed

If you're gonna mod, Squeenix makes no distinction between committing mass murder vs a minor parking violation, they're both equal according to their ToS. My suggestion is mod whatever you want however you want, just don't advertise it or stream your game with obvious mods and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, that's the typical "trust me bro" source. It's no different from those who knew "several people" who took the covid shot and turn into alligators or something.
