FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

So which mods are "allowed"
I understand that mods that will make you get 100% loot changes are pretty much cheating, as well as all mods are a reason to get banned, but are mods that you can install that the devs give them a "pass"? Or are mods allowed in private servers? If they are I haven't played this game yet

WoW has had this, and even Even Online. They need to give people the ability to customize the UI as we see fit, wether that is marketing data, or combat data, or boss info data, etc.. Hell a boss info UI would be helpful to me.

And look at the ♥♥♥♥ that is WoW balance because of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

NO MODS ARE ALLOWED.

ALL OF THEM WILL GET YOU BANNED

No, they won't. I said that as long as is not cheating and you don't talk about it is ok, but I some people here mentioned cactbot which is cheating and even that won't get you banned as long as you keep quiet.

The problem is because of that aspect. Blizzard started to design high end content around the idea of addons and the fact that any player raiding would use them.
FFXIV on other hand is designed with consoles in mind first so having native access to addons for PC players will increase the gap between the platforms.

I don't think things like triggers and auto markers are "grey zone", they're pretty overtly cheating.
And people still find ways to fail mechanics with all these tools 'assisting' them. :cuphead:

To justify the use of cheats

If you just want to download some cute outfits Hair mods and / or Boobies

Go ahead you can No one can really stop it

If you want to use that automatic crafting thing Automatic gathering thing

You're putting your own Account at risk.

Just be smart about it

if you read the TOS it states any 3rd party mod is bannable so yes adding more hair styles would be bannable

Meanwhile in the real world nobody was ever banned for stuff like that. It doesn't matter what TOS states, you can't be banned if nobody knows you're using it.

No mods or plugins are officially allowed. Anyone that tells you otherwise are lying.

I've used mods since 2018. I openly talk about them. Never been banned.

what are parsers?

A parser is any program that reads and analyzes data.

In FFXIV terms, it's a third-party program such as ACT that takes the data from battle logs, reads it, analyses it and converts it to useful data to be read by the user. It's primarily used by raiders so they can see their DPS in battle.

It goes even further beyond that when you add plug-ins to ACT such as Cactbot which takes the data parsed by ACT and uses it to create custom triggers for a fight. It is cable of reading encounter data and telling you in real time what mechanics are coming up and how to resolve them.

Most people don't really have any real issues with parsers in of themselves, it's the users who use Cactbot alongside ACT that are in a more dubious, gray zone, that people take issue with.
thanks for that info

None. Mods are against the TOS you signed. Don't whine if you got a permanent ban.

this is kind of wrong. in SE´s last anouncement about plugins and mods said they that tools which enhance screenshots are allowed aka gshade and reshade.
catching said peoples with reshade and gshade tools is easy aswell.
SE just needs to look on twit... i mean X where peoples using it for gpose all the time. most of those peoples are so dumb and shared their character card aka world, datacenter and character name. SE could easily suspend those peoples because of willingly sharing litterarly the complete account informations but they dont do it.

tho gshade and reshade dont interfere with the game. but thats as far they ever went to say that screenshot enhancing tools are a "grey area". i mean "grey area" means not automaticly allowed but ... not banable either. its the same with the argument "discord is a 3rd party tool" etc. discord is allowed aswell xD but only because it doesnt interferes with the game, just like gshade and reshade.

in my opinion should they handle this with mods which just affect hair, cloth, eyes and face aswell aslong it is sfw... but ohwell '-'. we all know that if SE would give one little finger to the community, would the community rip the entire arm off.

Do you have a direct link for this statement where they specifically say some mods are allowed? It would be interesting for us to read over. :lunar2019piginablanket:

no causality, i sadly do not have a link "for you" ... expecially not for you! because you know on your own where you can find it and you was backthen part of the discussion where that streamer got banned live and they made the announcement about it in which stands that screenshot enhancing tools are a grey area! and you got it in that topic slapped multible times into your face aswell, with other words. you know it is like that and you just want to play your role again.

i mean, you could go easily on twitte... i mean X, find someone which uses Gshade and reshade (which is honestly not hard) and shared their entire account information, which isnt hard either, then proceed to report that person. you will see that they will not get banned =P.

not to mentition that on some pf those screenshots the official square enix support replied, expecially under those dawntrail classes gposes which are relatively popular on X right now.

but ok causality, just play your role like you always do when it comes to topics like this xD.
heck, some of those gpose screenshots which used gshade and reshade too got reposted by the official ff14 twitter account aswell lol. edit ... i mean official X account >,>....

Hell, they've definitely let people using visual mods win contests (see: no shoes for barefoot in photo contests, someone had that mod because they were in a swimsuit) or obviously using ReShade. Because they offer no advantage, though they will crack down if you, say, make undereage character like Ryne naked.
