That's a bold assumption coming from a Genius,
who thinks the "problem" lies within the Voice-acting.
What if someone truly enjoys the game but not the story? That's entirely plausible.
The raids are great. The crafting system is great. The in-game economy seems pretty healthy. I'm not saying that the story is bad but only that some people might not enjoy it or care much about it.
Some people don't want to trudge through hundreds of quests just so they can enjoy end-game content. Square-Enix clearly understands that and gives players an options to skip the story.
I usually say 14 is not the game for you if all you care about are raids, ultimate, savage, crafting, glamour etc, but I do get people who are not invested in the story.
Reading becomes slower and slower.
Seriously though, I would say just play it normally.
I don't think skips are worth the money.
Not saying you should like the story. Just saying I'm cheap :P
Sounds like this hypothetical being will fit right in with Limsa one hand players.
it is really NOT recommended to skip the story.
many wrote that probably already but, everything is tied to the story which ended with endwalker. (like the endwalk of endwalker would be for you like eh? wtf is even happening).
if you skip the storyline fight you for example against bosses and you have NO CLUE why you even do it.
with other words, you chould just spare you the 13$ subscription every month and find a boss rush mode (i recomment hades and hades 2 for you =3) game instead where the story doesnt matters (or WoW where you need to read 7236581937265283945 books before you even understand the story at all).
be happy that the story gets here told INGAME and not like blzzard did it with releasing who knows how many books which you need to buy and read to get a hold of the story.
said cutscenes will get with every expantion better while shadowbringer was its peak.
it would be sad to see if you miss one of the greatest voiced villians in FF14 history because you skip everything xD.
in general can i tell you, you can usually skip all unwoiced cutscenes because those are in general not really important. all important cutscenes are voiced. so, you just wait a bit if it is voiced or not, if not --> skip ... if it is voiced should you rather listen. tho, telling you that does probably not matter because your post literarly tells me "i dont care about the story" hence why i recomment boss rush games for you again and you would spare the 13$ every month.
with other words FF14 is a heavily story based MMO. if you skip the story is the game like 50% lesser fun because you have no clue of the bosses origin whatsoever.
Well... they made it into Stormblood and still didn't like the whole idea of the MSQ but they do like the game in general in terms of fights, crafting and etc. Not everyone plays XIV only for the story, some people are only into the raiding yet like what the game has to offer in that aspect.
