unable to download patch files 1103

getting the error in the title, never had issues with this before, but suddenly now after taking a 6 month break it won't let me install the game.

gives me this error, then when i hit ok the launcher exits, so i don't even have the ability to repair from the launcher

I found a fix for this when I was having the same issue, and it seems odd to me that there aren't more people talking about this fix with how common this problem is.

I tried all the fixes being recommended. Changing the DNS server, disabling antivirus and firewalls, using a VPN, flushing the DNS, I tried everything, and none of it worked. But I found a random user on YouTube who recommended this fix, and it instantly fixed the issue for me.

If you're having this issue, try the following:

Go to "My Documents", and go to My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

Locate the FFXIV_BOOT file

Double click it to open it in Notepad

In the text, look for "BootVersionCheckMode". Next to it, it'll likely show the number 0.

Change the 0 next to BootVersionCheckMode to 1.

Go to File and select Save.

Close Notepad.

Now try and update your FFXIV client and see if it's fixed. Hope this helps!

I'm having the same issue. This did not correct the issue. I have tried every suggestion I can find. Hopefully, the launcher or whatever gets updated or something.
