Installing without having game time

Hi all,
I wanna install the game on my laptop because I will go to my countryside home for vacation for the whole summer where the internet there is bad for downloading. Thing is now I am playing some other games and I wanna play ffxiv later in summer, can I download it from now or it is still doesn't let it to be downloaded without game time?

You will need a subscription to login and download.

However, if you have the game on another PC, you can just copy the game directory on to a removable USB device for example, and then paste the game directory into the \common\ folder on your laptop (if using Steam).

You can find the game folder in \steam\steamapps\common\Final Fantasy XIV Online (copy this folder).

On your laptop, you only need to click install in Steam, let it download the 56mb download, since it sets up the installation of the game, its only the launcher you download), then simply paste the Final Fantasy XIV Online folder into the location I mention above, you will be able to login and play straight away. (Paste the game folder into the location after you install the launcher)

Maybe not the launcher but the files should be in the same place once you upgrade your account.

Dephending on how the launcher handles things up to stormblood is still a lot, no?
Don't forget that a lot of assets for things in the paid expansions have to be in the base game download as well- music, gearsets, attack effects...
You'd still have a large chunk to download after that but having less to download once you're actually going to play means a lot if you have slow wifi.

I dont have the game on my desktop. it seems there isnt any way. why they have it like this? any explanation?

Its just how it has always been.

I recommend you login now on your laptop or PC, as currently it is Free to Play for up to 96 hours (4 days from login), use this to download the game, then copy the game folder as I've mentioned previously to a safe location, you can then use it as a backup if you need to re-install.

Also, if your concern is about a possible refund, this game does not support refunds. If Steam let's your refund go through, it'll be through a chargeback, which will ban your account and the menthod you used to pay from any SE service

Edit: By your account, I mean your SE account, not your Steam account
