The point is so not the entire player base logs in the second the expansion is officially out.
Can you explain what's funny about it?
Cos it sounds like you think it's funny that 'early access' and 'advanced access' both exist and are different things, but I am failing to see any humor in that so I must be missing something.
Yup. Stagger the rush.
You're not missing anything. I get why they use "advanced" instead of "early" because early access became a synonym for beta and they don't want people to think we're beta testing the expansion before release.
Why this is funny only OP knows.
Yeah, that's why I was asking.
Thought maybe the word for 'advanced' was funny in French or something. Like queue. Did you know they say 'tag' instead for roulettes in FR instead of queue? I did not know that until today. Cos queue apparently sounds like a word for male genitalia in French lol.
That was during covid, the game was at its peak in popularity, it even surpassed WoW for a while back then. Games like this always have issues when release new expansions, but they really underestimated how many people would be playing EW on release. They also couldn't get more servers because there weren't servers available to buy. They even suspended sales for a while and made a live apologizing.
I don't think it's gonna happen this time. The game is not as hyped as it was back then, and they're probably learned from that experience anyway.
One of the big issues with EW was that it landed during the lockdown, and they literally couldn't get new hardware with the shortages. Plus the massive demand around that time was completely unexpected. Would 't be surprised if we don't hit EW player numbers for this launch.
It's just to encourage pre-orders. That's it.
It has a slight benefit of spreading out logins, but I'd call that benefit miniscule.
