FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Can't access Save Data
Hey All, I was just looking for some guidance on an issue I've been having. Recently, I got myself a new laptop in preparation for Dawntrail. I downloaded steam and logged in to the same account that I used on my 2 older laptops. Downloaded and installed FF14 and logged into my account and saw that it now considers me to be a new player for some reason and I can't access my previous save or character (who is endgame). I logged into FF14 on my old laptops and the characters are still there and everything is fine in that regard. I'm just wondering how I can access those characters on this new computer. I never had this issue in the past when I upgraded last time so I'm confused as to why its happening now. and yes I have steam sync enabled. Please help and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.

are you sure you're accessing the same service account?
Because the save data is saved in SE's servers.

If you're 100% sure you're on the same service account as your other laptop. You might wanna double check that you're looking in the right data-center.

Steam sync means nothing in this game, all data is saved Server side.
If you are indeed using the correct account, then you are likely going into another DC since the game will recommend a DC automatically to new clients, use your old server and dc.

When you reinstall the game, the settings are all reset, unless you also copy the /documents/mygames/ffxiv folder which has all of your character and client/game settings in it. If you didn't copy this folder (On C drive in Documents) then the first time you login and press "Start" it will connect to whatever DC it chooses, you will need to select "Dataceter" and select the correct one that has your characters on.

So I copied over everything from my old computer in /documents/mygames/ffxiv onto my new computer and I made sure to select the Datacenter that I'm a part of. I'm also certain that this is the service account that I've been using all these years. It's still not showing my old character data, instead it keeps creating a new folder over and over again :/

Try logging in to the MogStation with the ID and Password that you use in the Steam version FFXIV launcher, check that it has "Standard (Steam)" under "Service Account Status" and then click the "Final Fantasy XIV" tab at the top-right corner of the page, this should bring up a list of all characters when you click it. If it is empty, it must be the wrong account.

Yup it looks like everything is right and I see all my characters here when I log in with the info I use for steam. I really don't know what the issue is because everything seems to be in order

Just to be sure, are you opening the game launcher by clicking Play in your library or opening the /steamapps / common / ffxiv / ffxivboot.exe file?

Clicking Play requires an SE account to be linked to your Steam, which I'm sure you've already done.

I haven't read about anyone having this issue before, I can only think of a couple of things to check.

Did you World visit and logout on a different world?
Did you Datacenter travel, and logout on a different world, both could explain why you don't see the character/s on their Home World/DC.
