M3 Pro or Max
Considering bying a mac and I wonder how m3 pro would perform in FFXIV, would it be good enough or is it better to take the M3 max to be safe?

Before you go ahead and waste 5000$ on a Glorified Facebook-machine,

Remember FFXIV is mostly CPU Dependant, and the Recommended hardware specs is Several years old by now.

What kind of work if you dont mind me asking? Apples software is good, dont get me wrong, but with the money you pay for a Mac, you could net yourself a considerably more powerful machine, in some instances for a fraction of the cost.

If you have the money and don't want to use Windows, why not? Windows is getting worse every year, and sadly, I don't have the money for Apple, so I moved over to Linux.

While I'm inclined to agree about the windows part, the fact of the matter is, with Apple, you're paying for their proprietary software, not the hardware itself. In most instances, you'd get more bang for your buck going for a high-end windows machine.

I'd love to move over to Linux personally, but I can't even manage to get network drivers to work so I can access the internet. :lunar2019laughingpig:

You aren't paying for the software, you're paying for the logo. It's just expensive because idiots will pay for it. The cost doesn't represent any actual value.

Apple machines perform worse than their competitors at a similar price point and the OS is a walled-garden with child-proof locks on literally everything and they over-design everything to the point of absurdity.

"We removed the headphone jack on your phone so that it's waterproof now!"

Great. I can't plug headphones into my phone but at least I can go swimming with it. IDK about you but I know which of the two I was more likely to do.

"We removed all the ports on our laptops and just give you 2 USB-C ports, one of which is used for charging!"

...But all of my devices are still USB and I need to plug more than one thing into my laptop while it's charging.

Legitimately unhinged company in the modern age. Apple died with Steve Jobs IMO.
