Is it to late to start now?
I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about this game and it seem interesting enough that I am making this post, but is it too late to start play this game now seeing it have already been out since 2014?

Like everyone running around with mega farm 10 million worth of armor and $1000 p2w items and not beginner friendly anymore? just give me an honest answer of the game state

You can do level 70-80 in WoW in 3-4 weeks if your fast, but normally it takes 3 months around there.

I am talking about WoW classic, not WoW default.

Im not a new MMORPG player, i played some mmo but never final fantasy. But if leveling in Final fantasy is same as Wow, i might not like it. 3 months for average player, and I am abit slower then average, so 6 months for me just to get to endgame content might be too slow for me. I would like to start doing endgame content after 2-3 weeks of playing the game, so you need to run 12 dungeons per level up in FF14 also per level up? (If ff14 has a dungeon system)

For quest its more or less slower, (in WoW), where a quest equal to your level reward you maybe 3150 XP and you need 67000 xp to level up, so you need to do about 36 quests on average per level, and a quest can take anywhere from 10 min to 60 min depending how fast and knowledgable you are, so 36 hours for one level if it take 60 min per quest or 6 hours per level if your super fast (10 min per quest)

Also does ff14 use addons like WoW do or is it required? (I prefer not use addons and hope all the essential stuff and a decent looking UI is already in game to avoid to download extra stuff) , I am just a press-play-and-play player then trying configure everything before.
On your first class (and second class if you are efficient) the amount of XP the story quests (mandatory to reach endgame) will give you enough XP to level to max, so don't worry about that. Also, before you ask: One class is sufficient to enjoy the game, although I would recommend trying all out.

any tips which to recommend ? (class) other then warrior, i heard warrior already
or are warrior slow and bulky?

if for reference barret from ff7 was a warrior, hes pretty strong and bulky, i prefer play a class like cloud, something in between, speed, agility, fast, but also can deal alot dmg, is there a class like that or would cloud be the 'warrior' class here? or sephiroth also works

I have like 400 hours on the game (maybe like 50 afk idk) and I'm level 71, lots of things to do, I don't recommend trying to rush to most recent content because you will really miss out on a lot. As for what class, I PERSONALLY recommend being a thaumaturge (turns into black mage) when the story was slow in early game I entertained myself by frequently yelling fireball every time I used the spell, it was very fun. And being black mage automatically makes you cooler then everybody else.

does this game have a mentor program if so anyone want be my mentor and play with me ?

Depending on how much you've a free time, you can catch up by doing most of the stuff the game has to offer in a few months, this includes finishing up the main story and doing side contents up to level 90. There's hardly a fomo stuff in the game other than timed collab events, you can even do major side contents (hundreds of hours of content) from 2017 and find a lot of people still doing it for mounts and cosmetics, especially when there's a content drought. Most people wouldn't recommend you to rush, but if you don't care about anything i mentioned above, you can do end game contents after few weeks by buying story and job skip. You can still rush the game by playing game normally, it would still take like a solid month or two if you don't skip the story, or 1-2 weeks if you skip all the cutscenes and reading parts.

do the free trial for sure, I had like 1600 hours maybe in free trial before paying money to sub. this was before stormblood was on the free trial too so you could easily get 2000+ hours before paying a cent if you're crazy like me. but I do almost all of the side content so if you just focus MSQ then it's going to be a lot less of course

There's a mentor system. The way it works is that once you meet the requirements, you're given mentor status and expected to help new players learn whatever content they queue'd into. Mentors can also invite you into what is called the novice network where new players, returning players, and mentors can all chat together.

berret is going to be hard to emulate
if you like his machine gun arm you want the machinist, which is only later unlocked

if you want a strong and bulky frontliner then marauder/warrior is your choice to go, they are not cumbersome though

warrior is one of the tank classes and machinist a ranged damage dealer, so those deliver already very different play experiences

cloud would probably be a melee damage dealer, maybe tank your choices for that are:
-dragoon (which is also a bit like cid, just in better armor)
-ninja (not in the starting choice but availible early)
-monk (closest to tifa)
-dark knight (also later availible, tank with 2handed sword)
-gunbreaker (a tank, its squall from ff8)
-samurai (also later unlocked)
-reaper (newest from the list even later unlocked)

got it, didnt like barret
loved cid
so i might play dragoon then, is it a warrior or ?

Dragoon is a warrior type in heavy armor (second best to tanks) that channels draconic power and jumps with very flashy combos
you will start as lancer in gridania then, have fun!

As long as it's popular it's never late. There's no P2W whatsoever and the game throws ingame money at you like crazy.

Yeah, no. If by endgame content you mean the latest raids and trials at the hardest difficult, that's locked behind the story, and that alone will take over 100 hours, even if you skip cutscenes and all. Furthermore if you rush everything to get to endgame in such a short time you would most likely just get burned out.
Integrity 23/mai./2024 às 10:55
Yeah I would say you are about 6-8 years too late to start.

He is going to be stuck doing ARR quests while the rest of us have hundreds of millions, mansions. 10 years worth of glams, minions, etc. It would be very painful for anyone to catch up at this point.

theres nothing to catch up to. 92% of the content is cutscenes. OP its not too late to start. You could "catch up" to these idiots in like 3 months.
