How do I do that?
Like if the DPS explained mechanics to the group after a few wipes, it wouldn't be a bad thing to give your commendation to that DPS.
If someone gave you some pointers during the dungeon/trial, etc, it wouldn't hurt to commend them.
Many experienced players will commend new players because you get extra end game currencies if a new player is in the group. Gives old players an incentive to do older content so that new players can experience it.
You can't commend anyone you're in a party with as well.
At the end of a dungeon/trial/raid/group content there will be a box in the same area where the Loot pops into that says: Player Commendation. You open that and it will show all players still in the instance.
Being a comedian in party chat throughout the dungeon is a winner and usually results in all the commendations.
Performing way above expectations can also do it, though that's usually harder to get noticed for unless you're a non healer and you rez everyone all the time.
As a healer, I tend to get commendations for existing, though I definitely get more for doing well and usually only get all three if I do something exceptional like rez the whole party during a boss fight.
They're good things to get and it simply shows that other players appreciate your contribution.
