Hi, I'm a guy who's never played FF14, but I have played other MMOs and really like roleplaying aspects, especially in guilds. Is the RP community active and are there any guilds of note?

I believe this is the easiest way to find a place to rp, afk or chill,however you might find some people rping in grand cities, but nothing too serious. They are some rp guilds (fc) but I dont know how they work~

Entirely French, my dude. On Ragnarok, I see a lot of RPers walking slowly through cities, but they're literally all French.

The EN playerbase's equivalent of RPing is using /beesknees in a club, so it's not entirely surprising.

Omega server on Chaos datacenter use to be quite active in terms of roleplaying (not just the ERP kind). However, most (90%) of RP events are sadly organized via dedicated closed discord servers/friend groups and not out in the open, and people are generally wary of fresh blood in fear of them automatically assuming RP = ERP.
Free companies used to be much more meaningful before DC travel got introduced, nowadays most of them just sort of... exist, for no apparent reason. The game has brutally decimated FCs over time.

Oof, as a Moogle resident I know exactly what you mean, French roleplayers are quite shameless. But interestingly enough, they're the only ones willing to play along with spontaneous RP. That is, if you know French, ofc

The real problem is that unlike any other MMO out there you are blocked from creating characters on heavily populated RP servers and they NEVER get unblocked in fact it will only get worse as it used to be possible to find an open window even if 1 hour a day, but not anymore for over a year.

You can create a character on another server and then have them in-game travel to the RP server but this does not work because when you travel you are not allowed to queue for dungeons, events and all that, so you cannot "wait" for a group while you RP.
