Why does this game keep locking things behind dead content?
I wanted to get the Scion portraits for my house, but apparently the last part of the questline is locked behind the level 60 Alliance raids that no one ever queues for.

Every time they lock new content behind old ♥♥♥♥ content that no one wants to run anymore it just makes the new content inaccessible. Are the developers brain damaged?

FFXIV in theory has no "dead content" outside of perhaps Bozja. Since roulettes will fill all dungeon queues.
Source: did the level 70 alliance raids with a friend, and the queue was like 15 minutes at midnight for the third one.

Only roulettes don't do crap for Alliance raids.

The 60 and 70 raids are pretty much universally hated, so people just juke their ilvl to make sure they get the 50 one. Alliance raids are well and truly dead content, and if the developers had been paying even a tiny bit of attention to what's happening in their game they'd realize that and stop locking things behind that garbage.

Edit: I'd tried the 60 alliance raids before, during prime hours on multiple days and basically gave up each time after 3 hours of waiting for the second one to pop. Heard the third one is even worse.

They fixed the ilevel nuke. Only way to do that now is if you never unlocked the alliance raids.

That's interesting and might help a little.

It may be worth trying to queue again, but there's still the problem that most people never bothered to unlock the 60 Alliance Raids. The only reason Ivalice is still active enough to actually get a group is because people had to unlock it for Bozja and the 80 relic.

Aye I just checked, if I wanna queue for alliance roulette as a level 90 I need an average ilevel of 565, which is the same as the first level 90 alliance roulette.
I began seeing more level 80 and 70 alliance raids thats true, Honestly the best fix might be for Square to add something that requires unlocking the level 60 raids to do.
Make the less travelled content more active.

yea, they removed the ilvl restrictions from the lv 50, 60, 70 alliance raids, so you cant do that ilvl nuke anymore. thats why ya see since a while yaself dropping into one of the others, i get eden ones lately a lot. probably because it was in the moogle treasure trove xD.

There's really no dead content. FFXIV handles it very well. The roulette for example ensure that new players, or players redoing content on new characters, always has a chance of getting help on the content because they get rewards for doing it.

Things like Bojza is a little "dead", but even then, there's always someone, and if not, someone always willing to help in PF.

Think about it like this: If there weren't things locked behind old content then said old content would be even further dead.
Barely anyone would touch Eureka anymore if there were other ways to get the relics and/or unique items.

The Bozja raids are pretty much dead, and most of Bozja is gated behind them.

Bozja was probably the worst implemented thing this game has ever done.

If they fixed the ilvl thing there's some hope for the Alliance Raids at least, though. I'm skeptical about how viable the 60 ones are right now still, but maybe I'll try to finally get those done after dawntrail releases and the roulettes are busy again.

You have neglected to say what DC you are on.

A dead DC will still have dead content. Dynamis for example, probably near impossible to get 70+ because no one on dynamis is that level, or they are on aether/crystal/primal doing it.

Bozja is far from "dead". DRN is run all the time, CE/Skirms are run all the time, in BSF and Sadnor. DRS, well, join a discord and prog, but its run.

It works in theory, but they locked a HOUSING item behind these dead as dirt 60 Alliance Raids. That was never going to revive the level 60 raids, it was only going to ensure anyone with a house who hadn't already done the raids couldn't get that item.

I'm on Dynamis natively, but I always travel to Aether when trying to get a group for some obscure content.

Then that's suprising to me. I mean, crystal alone, I am getting more 90 alliances in the past 2 weeks than i have in 2 years lol. I generally play 9a-5p est time frames, and have no problem finding via daily roul.

But.. on dynamis, yea, good luck. I moved there for the 90 day boosted exp, played on aether/crystal, powerleveled my chars, and once done, move off. However, if youre df'ing on aether, you should have minimal issues.

Also, the big thing to consider at the moment..

We are in downtime pre expac. People are unsubbed. People that are subbed are power leveling alt jobs, crafting, doing bozja/eureka, doing ultimates, doing MINE savage, etc. Or.. they are afk in limsa. which, bleh.

CLL is dead. DRN just gets the occasional PF farm groups that aren't going to be letting new players join them. The rest you basically have to beg on discord.

What I mean by dead is that any new player who wants to try to do Bozja for the first time right now can effectively go ♥♥♥♥ himself.

It was a little while ago when I first tried to do the 60 Alliance raids, and I didn't realize that they fixed the ilvl thing since, so it might be better now. I'd still be curious how many people doing Alliance roulettes nowadays ever see the level 60 ones, however. I think most people just flat out never unlocked them.
