FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Multiple Square Enix accounts on the same Steam account?
I want to eventually buy the complete edition of FFXIV next time it's on sale so that I can do more simple things like side quests and island sanctuary on the Steam Deck. My main account is on PS5.

I wanted to download the free trial with a disposable SE account to give it a try and see if I really like the way it plays on the Deck. However, I reached a page that said once I link the SE account to the Steam account, I cannot unlink them. If I go through with this, will signing in on my main account be impossible since that disposable account is already linked to it?

I don't want to simply drop the money only to find out I don't like it, but I also don't want to lock my main account out.

you will lock your main account out

there IS a one-time 'unlink your Steam account because I made a mistake linking it" form thing you can fill out to unlink, but I would not count on it remaining forever or them doing it because they explicitly don't guarantee they will

eta: HOWEVER you could always just buy the Windows version when you buy and link that, and just leave the trial on your Steam account, since you're planning on ditching the trial characters anyway

oh. you could also just do the Windows trial, and then when you decide, buy the Steam version if you know you'll ultimately want it on Steam!!

I'll look into this. I'm honestly not computer savvy, so if it involves messing with directories and running certain commands, I'm going to be a little hesitant and nervous about it. I'll try to find a good, simple beginner's guide. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'll do some research. My friends tell me to stay away from the Steam version and that's the version I have on my Deck now. I'll see which is the preferred version and go from there. Thank you for clarifying!
