You need to buy the game, and subscribe for 90 days to get all unique rewards.

What you get:
14 Days free game time
Friendship Circlet (Increases EXP earned by 20% when below level 25)


Instructions:

When your friend receives your message with the enclosed recruitment code, have them create a Square Enix account if they have yet to do so, then register the recruitment code via the Mog Station.

Both you and your friend will receive exclusive recruitment rewards based on your friend's number of accumulated subscription days.

Note

In-game rewards will be granted based on the number of subscription days accumulated. Note that the 30 day free trial period will not be counted. To receive reward items immediately, you must purchase subscription days using a game time card. Items will be delivered via the moogle delivery service.
Reward items can only be redeemed once per character. Inviting multiple friends will not grant additional items.
Friends invited via the Recruit a Friend system will not be added to your in-game Friend List automatically.

what time zone is tonberry?
I just bought the game and Im in the process of setting my account up, I dont plan on finishing the setup until after I dl the client so sooner is better than later

its doesnt need you must play in tonberry , but most of ppl from asia play in tonberry like japanse , singapore, indonesian, my timezone is gmt+7

you just need play the game then in this free trial you enter the code in mogstation service
after that i believe when you subscribe the game then the recruit friend rewards is active :)

btw i just played this game for week and its fun of course with friends :D
