I am the darkness.
Because he's funny and doesn't take himself seriously at all. The funny is key.
Nobody actually thinks he's lunching with Yoshida, but the way it's presented like that makes people laugh. He also takes such an over the top stance that THAT makes people laugh, too. It's hard to hate somebody that makes you laugh.
There's also an actual real point in there, so there's that too.
And the closest thing I could find to cheating is gather buddy
And that's on such a miniscule level
I only call it cheating on a technicallity
I don't even use the things and even I have heard about Cactbot, which is 100% cheating. Getting audio and visual cues that other players don't is not even shades of grey area, it's blatant.
It's like why play the game if you just want the cactbot to play for you?
I feel dirty, but agreed 100%, lol.
(To be fair, I do use DBM in The Game That Shall Not Be Mentioned, but they've gone on record saying they design encounters with the assumption that raid teams are using it. BLUE TEXT.)
It's just that I've raided with people who depend on cactbot/triggers. Why not actually learn the fight using your eyeballs? I can't help looking down on them a little.
It is probably the most commonly accepted, egregious, example of cheating out there. I would personally call it a gray area. It definitely is an unfair advantage, but I'd go a bit short of calling it fullblown cheating, but I suppose that entirely depends on what you consider cheating. If you call any form or unfair advantage cheating, then yeah - it totally is. However, for me it falls a bit short because while it can help you with knowing what mechanics are coming up and telling you (to varying degrees) how to resolve the mechanic, you the player are still responsible to actually perform the mechanic and still have a functional understanding of what you are doing.
I can totally see why Cactbot is the line that some people will not cross and call anyone that uses it a cheater, but for me it's just another app. There are more egregious mods and plugins out there, but Cactbot is notorious for a reason.
So at this point it's all just empty claims.
I don't raid anymore. But honestly if I tell who my characters are you and I both know there are people here who will stalk and report me for every little thing. One frequent poster even got suspended for making a post encouraging everyone to mass report me. Why would I subject myself to that again? If you want to think I'm all empty claims, that is perfectly fine. My ego does not care.
Though I would say hunter pies more cheating than this
Honestly I don't care if people cheat the game and their own experiences but I wish SE would at least make a server side anti cheat solution that could potentially detect cheats like Cactbot.
