Level skipping and expansions.

So I don't have shadowbringers yet but plan on getting a level skip. Will I still get level 80 reguardless?

If you buy a level skip you still have to play through the story or buy a story skip aswell.

I don't understand why you would level boost if you're still going to play through the story content, which would get you to that level anyway. The MSQ is 95% clicking through dialogue boxes, so you won't benefit from being level boosted in any meaningful way.

No.

Until an expansion that raises a cap is purchased, you are held to the previous cap.

Stormblood is 70. Your cap will remain 70 until Shadowbringers/Endwalker is activiated on your account. If you were capable of buying just Shadowbringers, applying that to your account would make the limit 80. Endwalker came with 90.

Nope, you are being held to your current level cap.
In order you to get into Level 80 be it through playing or skipping. you need to have Shadowbringers for that

just to update. i bought the pack. I dont own shadowbringers but my character is level 80. im capped and cant go any further.

Leveling up is quicker than the monotony of the MSQ, so if you're going to pick one, getting to level 80 is probably 6x faster just running dungeons than sloughing through MSQ. It's sort of irrelevant to be level 80 stuck on MSQ, because you're gonna be level 80 by the time you're done anyway. There's also no advantages for being level 80 during the MSQ, you'll just be scaled down.

honestly there is an advantage. im skipping the story as i dont remember ♥♥♥♥ from reading. found a guy on youtube thats explaining the story in a way that im enjoying so im not missing anything. The advantage i get is that im not slowed down by all the mobs and the majority of the quests that involve combat dont scale you down.

This is why leveling and the MSQ sucks so much(so much time wasted) on this game and turns a lot players away fast= "Level boost" and "Story Skip", it sucks on purpose so that you are encouraged or motivated to buy either of these 2... or both for major profits! sad.
