Until an expansion that raises a cap is purchased, you are held to the previous cap.
Stormblood is 70. Your cap will remain 70 until Shadowbringers/Endwalker is activiated on your account. If you were capable of buying just Shadowbringers, applying that to your account would make the limit 80. Endwalker came with 90.
In order you to get into Level 80 be it through playing or skipping. you need to have Shadowbringers for that
still interesting how you can bypass stuff with that tho.
honestly there is an advantage. im skipping the story as i dont remember ♥♥♥♥ from reading. found a guy on youtube thats explaining the story in a way that im enjoying so im not missing anything. The advantage i get is that im not slowed down by all the mobs and the majority of the quests that involve combat dont scale you down.
