It's up now.
Less than 24 hours
I dare you to ask your ISP that. I wanna see how they respond.
First off, this is a game, not my ISP. Secondly, I'm not even saying they would do it, I just find it lame how people will defend it as not "being a big deal", yet when you ask for this "not a big deal thing" to go your way everyone acts like you're entitled or something, or that the notion itself is "laughable". Is it a big deal or not? Because if it isn't, then I surely don't see why they couldn't do it.
you pay a sub for playing, you agree to these terms when you play, the game has to go down for maintenance, normally for only a few hours, at most 1 day. This is something all MMOs do, and have to do. This is like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that a traffic light turns red.
Again, my criticism is to the mentality that asking for this is an absurd thing. I know this is how it works and will be working for most games, I'll keep playing FFXIV despite that, too.
Yeah but they are the ones who make these rules and have control over whats included or excluded from it. They could very well do it as a courtesy, especially if you consider how fast servers usually come back too, it wouldn't break their backs financially or anything to just pause everyone's sub time for the short time of the maintenance. Just an example, doesn't need to be exactly this idea of pausing it or anything, I think any sort of ingame thing would be nice too, as most games who compensate people for downtime do.
you seem to assume that updating the game servers and "pausing" everyone's subs is just something that can be done easy. Also yes other MMOs compensate for down time, when its unexpected, not for scheduled maintenance.
I really don't assume doing it is an easy task (I also don't think its beyond their power either) as I said its just an example, I just don't really like this feeling I get when I see people complaining for something that they paid for (you also pay in most if not all free games, just in a different ways) and people act like the company is doing you a favor something, so you should just shut up and consume. I tend to be more understanding of where the person who is complaining is coming from than the people who just defend it as "not a big deal", which, again, is my criticism.
funny part is sometimes that is not even enough ;p
What kind of argument is even that about playing something else? In which moment did I say I couldn't wait for it to come back? (as I have done for multiple other patches, I've been playing this game for a long while as I'm sure you can tell since you're checking other peoples profiles), or where did I say they did not need to take this time to make sure everything goes smoothly? I've even said a few posts up I don't think they could easily do this, thats not even the point.
Where did I say again I couldn't deal with the replies? I've literally been replying all of them, does that look to you like the behavior of someone who can't deal with replies? I think this is all just dodging the point, what I am going to say is that you are paying for something, since the other person a few posts back mentioned this example: Your ISP does have an obligation (by consumers laws in most countries, I'm not the one saying this), on a subscription system, even if you don't use the entire month because its physically impossible for one, you're still paying to be able to use it whenever you desire, which is even how the game works most of the time. Its available at all times, if I want to come home 3 am and want to play it, the server is up, and this is why we pay for the service. It is supposed to be available, thats why you're paying the subscription, it IS still a transaction, if I pay you for something, you DO OWE IT, its not a favor, its not a donation.
Think more of yourselves and defend your own interests instead of doing it for a massive company that does not care about your existance.
oh so now we are going with the "stop defending big companies" thing now huh?
you have a bad take, get called out for it, then want to move that goal post
You are being entitled, you want to game to be up when ever YOU want to play it, well hate to break it to you, things need maintince, things have to be taken offline in order to fix. Its in the agreement, you signed it, stop crying
