Advice ps4 controller skill layout.
Goodmorning!

First of all for the people who are familair with the ps4 controller , I got the option of putting spells on the:

Left trigger
Right trigger
double left trigger
double right trigger
Press Right trigger then left trigger
press left trigger then right trigger
left and right trigger at the same time.

I'm still at the very beginning of the game and I don't want to get used to muscle memory which is not optimal in the long run. I do know that it's all person preference but maybe there are people who could give me their setup and why you prefer is the way you do.

I also don't know how many combat skills will be used further in the game thats why I want it to make a good start and not have to make adjustments later on.

For now I'm using the Conjurer Job and I have my damage spells on the left trigger and healing spells on the right trigger. Spells on cooldown double tap right trigger.

Also shortcuts for emotes and ability like running all feel very clunky and not natural.

I welcome all advice !

have a good day!

First of all; Turn on WXH, put it to always show and let it use both Dpads and face buttons.
Turn on the option that allows you to access different hotbars by double tapping a shoulder button and the one that allows you to access another by holding either R1 and then L1 or reverse.

I usually have attacks on the face buttons on the R2 trigger, self buffs on the Dpas, then Heals on the L2 trigger face buttons and other extra things on the L2 Dpad. I tend to put most of my level 50 and below skills on Hotbar 1, then 50+ on hotbar 2. Hotbar 3 can have little extras like rarely used buffs.

Then later hotbars are teleports and travel, potions and other cures, emotes and 2 Hotbars where I put all my jobs to change quickly between them.

I have turned on the WXH and I can see the extra bars on top of my main bar. Thank you for all the information!:)

In the hotbar setting there is an option to limit your hotbar while "weapon drawn" and i have mine limited to 1 and 2 . (makes tap R1 swapping much less annoying)

Hotbar 1 is mostly single target skills for easy rotation access. (and sprint)
hotbar 2 gets the multi-target, buffs and debuffs. (my sprint is moved here if the slot is needed in HB1 for something else)

As for healing jobs my set up is a mess no one would want to play with. but it works for me. so set yours up in a way that helps you remember what spell is where.

while hot bar 3 is the extra less important stuff like return, mounts, teleport. sleep ect.

Thank you for the information! I do not understand what you mean with the weapon drawn.

I know that I have my L3 button that will sheath my weapon , but I don't know what the advantage is of having your weapon drawn or not.
