game's difficulty
hi.

I used to play ff14 1 year ago i had lv 50 then stopped playing. I got back now and i see the game hasnt changed at all. All what this game is about is walking from quest to quest, beating easy as f*** mobs that do 0 damage and are not challenging at all, taking another quest etc etc... just nothing more but walking walking walking walking walking... fighting useleess mobs with no risk of dying. Is this game actually for 8 years old kids? No challenge at all, no fun at all, dungeons with team of 4 people are even easier. Whats the point of playing this ♥♥♥♥? maybe someone can change my mind.

You can judge the games difficulty when you reached difficult content. Otherwise the game is made to be beaten by kids.

so i have to beat the game up to level 80 or 90 to actually start enjoying it? nice game XD

Well it's rated T, so technically it's not for 8 year old kids. The story is meant for casual people though. Most encounters are designed to be beaten the first time, if not the second.

There's a few normal raids/trials that might catch people off guard the first time through but in general it's supposed to be easy.

Hard content is entirely optional content.

That's not what I said. I said that the content gets more difficult the more you progress. But the casual content isn't hard, it's designed to be easily beaten.

okey but can i participate in the hard content without doing easy content first? is there hard contet for lower levels or just for 80-90 lvl players?

You have to do the easy version of something to be able to unlock the hard version. There's extremes and savage raids for level 50, 60, and 70. Also a couple of ultimates are level 70. It's less a question of can you participate and more a question of can you find people who want to do that stuff.

Depends on if you find people to do it. There's old savages if you can find a group doing minimum ILVL stuff, but most people are doing the most recent hard content obviously.

Each major patch except ARR has a savage version of the normal raids, at least with this specific formula. For HW it's the Alexander Raids, for Stormblood the Omega Raids, for Shadowbringers it was Eden and for Endwalker it's Pandæmonium.

Then there is Ultimate Content, fights often more than 15 minutes long and the hardest content in the game when you approach it blind.

The Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate) (UCOB), The Weapon's Refrain (Ultimate) (UWU), The Epic of Alexander (Ultimate) (TEA), Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate) (DSR, DSU or DSW) and The Omega Protocol (Ultimat) (TOP).

OP is complaining game is't hard enough even though he just hit 50 where the "hard" slightly increases (does so at every 10 levels) meanwhile in other threads people are complaining about account creation and logging in as if it was a savage raid

He must have gotten bored (or banned) of posting the same thing in ESO forums and ended up here.

Play everything synched min ilvl. But before you start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again prepare for long wait times while your Party Finder fills up.

It’s not a difficult game. In fact this game is designed for casuals. Even the hardest content in game (ultimates) can be easily cleared by bad players. Take me for example. I’m pretty much one of the worst video game players and even I have cleared ultimates.

Just a question, and please don't take it the wrong way: did you clear an ultimate in the patch it was released in?

I cleared TEA on patch. I did UWU and UCOB later. Honestly I still think UCOB even after the nerf/power creep was harder than TEA on patch. UWU was very easy but of course I didn't do that on patch.

One of the game's core philosophies is that it's accessible to as wide as possible audience pool. Meaning story-related stuff is clearable for everyone.
A you progress through the game's story, there are savage raids to unlock, extreme boss fights and ultimates for those who want a challenge. Basically everything up until the end of ARR story is a huge tutorial/setpiece which turns a lot of people off, apparently. Recently a dungeon with varied difficulty has been added, something thats going to be expanded upon in the future patches and addons. There's also ranked pvp which is definitely a step-up from casual bracket (possibly due to widespread cheating). Back when Ishgardian restoration phases were a thing, making it to the ranks was no easy task on some of the more populated/craftaholic servers. I'd also add that catching all the special fishes is a hell of its own, even if its not something combat related.
I think it's a good thing that hardcore content exists in a bubble of its own and isn't mandatory, and that's coming from someone who used to raid a lot in 3.x and 5.x era of FFXIV.
