First, find the email associated with your old old account. If you're not sure, go into all of the emails it could be, and see if you can find the "thank you for your purchase" or "you have setup your account, welcome" emails (they aren't called that, but something similar).

Once you know what email your account is associated with, google 'ffxiv mogstation', and attempt to recover your password and login name with your email.

If you cannot recover login or password, contact customer support (chat or phone). Have your email for the account and your registration key that's already been used handy. If it's a Steam purchase, right click in library manage game should have the registry key in there somewhere.

Explain to customer support that you're trying to recover your old old account. They will assist you. Then you can just pay your sub and pick up where you left off.

If you want a fresh start, either buy the Windows version, or create a new Steam account and repurchase it here. Even if you remove your current copy from your current steam account, if you purchase it again, it will assign you the same registration key.

Did you ever use that code before? If yes, just login with the account you used it with.

If not, contact SE support, it may have expired, but there are cases where they provide a new key.

I really don't remember I played the game in the past, I just remember I play the trial version, in fact into the MogStation there is the registered SE account on 2020, and now I put the security token and changed the security answer.. always in the MogStation the account type is Free Trial, and ask to me if I want to upgrade to full version selecting the platform to which I wish to transfer (I can't select steam)

I bought a bundle in the 2014, a bundle with Final Fantasy XIV online and FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn CE (PAL version and Retail Key).

That's not the trial version (hint: the Collector's Edition is not a trial). My directions are for recovering the bundle you purchased in 2014.

in fact into the MogStation there is the registered SE account on 2020, and now I put the security token and changed the security answer.. always in the MogStation the account type is Free Trial, and ask to me if I want to upgrade to full version selecting the platform to which I wish to transfer (I can't select steam)

So...you've recovered your account! Congratulations. Download the trial client directly from Square Enix (not the Steam version), and log in and play with your user name and account that let you log into Mogstation to see that. The info that logged you into Mogstation is the info that will log into your game account. So, use that name and password, and the platform it tells you to.

If the trial is from before the changes to trial accounts, it is ineligible to continue as a trial, and you will be required to upgrade -- which will require a new purchase. There is no way to combine them.

Once you have purchased, subbed, or your time expired back when there was an expiration date (there isn't one any more), there is no going back to the trial account without making a whole new account.

"Square Enix accounts that have already registered for a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account are not eligible for a free trial.

Please log in using a Square Enix account that has not registered a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account."

This is the message appear when I try to log in directly in the Free Trial from Square Enix

What is confusing about that message?

If the trial is from before the changes to trial accounts, it is ineligible to continue as a trial

You have three choices:

1) Recover your collector's edition account, pay the sub
2) Purchase the base game / expansion for your former trial account, pay the sub.
3) Start a brand new account on an email you haven't used and play the trial.

I'm sorry. Do you have a person IRL that can help you with computer stuff? At this point it's beyond my ability to assist you. Call a friend or something.

So if I upgrade the Free Trial version from the MogStation I can play normally, and this message (Square Enix accounts that have already registered for a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account are not eligible for a free trial.
Please log in using a Square Enix account that has not registered a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account) disappear right?

You can't use the free trial with an account that already has a paid game on it.

You either need to start a new account or pay the sub.

Clarification that there are 4 different launchers on pc. Each versions (windows and steam) have their own free trial launcher and their own full game launcher. If you hace registered the paid version of the game and you're getting this message it means you are using the free trial launcher. Install the full game launcher.
