Then again, I will also not enjoy the likely increased spec requirement. Ya win a little lose a little. I hear theyll work on your own character models first and work from there.
to people who have been playing a while it won't matter anyway because they mod the game to the point that it doesn't look like ffxiv anyway. in fact it might piss them off because it'll mess their reshade up
Personally, I'm fine with the current graphics, it would be much better if we could have better customization possibilities for our characters because I'm suffering from not being able to put a real beard on my Hyur(Midlander)...
Already the game could have been 1000 times better if it was properly financed but in the end the earnings of ff14 are used mostly to develop other projects and not properly finance the development of f114
A proper graphic update would require a lot of work and effort, but most of all money.
And I think everyone agrees that serious work, efforts, altruism are not what represents SE or the team that develops ff14 in the end ff14 will not change too much and will continue on the same loop because in the end that's what the majority wants (and it is less expensive)
Some will find me harsh, but I remind you that SE is very big, they have zero excuses...
Just the opposite of real artists like Kojima's team who work with a real seriousness and a desire to provide a quality product that has a soul and a vision.
I'll stop here because I might be accused of being off topic again when I'm talking about the subject but you know what I mean.. I've been deliberately simple in my statement
that NFT game is't going to fund itself so something has to!
All the characters have sandals instead of bare feet so I don't see the point, at least it would be cool to have a choice of sandals because the basic one is really bad
but in the end I don't care because my character wears a permanent Paladin armor and when I say armor I mean an armor that also covers the face in tempered steel not something ridiculous or weak
FFXIV is already more detailed than a lot of others mmos, and they're really doing their best to make it look like a modern game instead of a 10 years-old game.
Some of you have reasons to be mad with SE and / or not expect much from the graphical update and I get it, but the truth is that from a technical perspective, the upcoming improvements are really nice considering that they don't change the engine.
On the other hand, completely reworking the graphic engine and make it up-to-date would require a huge amount of time and money that wouldn't necessarily pay-off,
I think they made the good call here since it's not gonna force players to change computer or buy new hardware, but will just make the game look a little better for those who have more recent gpus.
I agree with most of this. Just two additional points.
One I believe what Yoshi's team does is through their own desire to do the best for FFXIV with what they have available.
Second. MMORPGs have a very unique situation when it comes to visual fidelity. They run on a sub/MTX model these days and in order for them to make as much as possible from this. The game needs to be available to as many as possible. Increasing visual fidelity too much would push away customers and reduce their profits. It's why it's not always the best idea to out do visuals for the sake of it.
I wholly agree though that they could use that money to definitely expand more on the gameplay elements by expanding the team. Instead of blowing it on failed movie IPs, game remakes and NFTs. Also we know how much the mogstore rakes in annually. You see all the people with mogstore purchases day one.
