Mac & Playstation are compatible with everything
Windows is compatible with Mac and Playstation
Steam is compatible with Mac and Playstation
Windows is not compatible with Steam -- this is because they're both considered "PC client" rather than separate platforms.
It is inaccurate to say this is wholly about monetization, as you are not required to pay through Steam even if you're using the Steam platform -- you can pay without Steam getting their cut as it is.
It would be more accurate to say it's because Steam wasn't an available platform on launch, and when they added it they didn't add it as a new platform, but as an option for the Windows one. Up until fairly recently, you could use either PC client to play a Steam/Windows account; that only changed when they added the Steam account security link.
Yes. You have a Windows version on there. Good news, though? The Windows version will work on your Steam deck. Rumor has it it actually is a little easier to get running!
You should be able to get a refund for the steam licenses if you didn't already put them on another account; one of the things they DO refund is 'can't use the key' despite the 'no refunds allowed' on the store page. Ignore the 'no refund' screeching people and put 'not compatible with current licenses, unable to complete registration' in the request. This will invalidate the key for all time, so if you think you might ever want to have a separate account on Steam, don't go for a refund.
If you already used the key and made an account, just use it for the recruit a friend rewards or a mule to transfer stuff between alts while you have the sub. ^^
Best news? Once you get your refund, you just have to buy Endwalker for Windows, that'll add everything you don't have. And the SE site has sales more. :)
Damn. SE's ToS that says that being unable to use the key is one of the reasons they'll give a refund; maybe try contacting SE's support? There might be more to it than JUST being unable to use the key, though. Was not aware they'd follow your email back to your main account and go after that, too -- that's good to know. Sorry you weren't able to get your money back.
